So after some less than savoury experiences with Kaspersky (BSoDs and don't even ask), I am now looking at Bit-Defender.

I spend a lot of time gaming and they have just launched a gaming edition. I am just wondering if the bigger versions function in the same way, I saw somewhere that Bit Defender Internet Security has a gaming mode (which I thought was the unique selling point of the Gaming suite). Does the gaming one have an engine that's more centred around gaming or what (seems highly unlikely to me).

What does the gaming version have that the others don't that makes it more suitable for gaming aside from the gaming mode that they seem to have?

Sounds like a gimmick to me. Whats to stop me clicking my Antivir icon and disabling scanning? You can do it with all AV's, they just don't advertise it as a 'feature'.

Surely if I add all my games to the trusted zone it won't affect them, and I could just right click the task tray icon to disable realtime scanning like you say. Some reviews seem to rave about it though...
