bit of a odd query

Hi guys i have managed to lay my hands on a sony viao Network Media Reciever, at the moment i'm just trying to set it up to test it to make sure it works.

However, obviously i'm not using this on a viao pc, so don't have the viao media software, but was wondering if there was any way of configuring my system so that it could be recieved by the unit.

Is there anyway to download the sony software, just had a quick browse on their website but you need to enter the serial no of your computer.

Within the manual there is a little bit at the end that says:

configure the connected computer to enable access from with the Network Media Reciever

FOR COMPUTERS OTHER THAN VIAO

Setup methods vary for different computers. For details on your set-up method, refer to the instruction manuals that came with your computer or with the media content server software you are using

So what could this other software be that it talks about.
