I am after a new gpu(perhaps SLI) upgrade as i wish to get a 2560x1440 144hz panel sometime in the summer but wondering what you guys would do:

1.Order a 970 now and a 2nd next month.
2.Wait til next month get a 980 then a 2nd month after.
3.Wait 2 months and buy a Titan X.

My current cards do fine except for Dying Light/DA:I where they may stutter on max which can be annoying....also would like to play GTA 5/Witcher 3 maxed or near it when they are you.

I am thinking of the first option as SLI 970s should be fine for that res/hz?

I love it and wouldn't mind using it again that's why i am leaning towards option 1 plus sli gtx970 seems good value for that resolution.

Anyone here know if custom coolers work fine in Raven 2 case?

well, if I was in your position (i'm a fan of sli btw) i'd wait the 2 months for the titan x and just see what's going on with any possible 980ti.

If nothing, the titan is a beast of a card and a good purchase if you got the cash.

I had SLI 970 on the 1440P ROG SWIFT and wasn't blown away with performance at all. I would advise TITAN X, the 295X2 handles that res really nicely as well

If you can wait 2 months for a TX, then id wait, as the 390X should be out then, so can see how that is as well.

I wouldn't touch 970s at that res, as probably have to use the 0.5mb of Vram thats in the slower pool, so your performance will absolutely cripple.

Depends if you like waiting for profiles or not.

That vram stuff is getting old now and wildly inaccurate, wish people would stop throwing it about with no understanding of it.
