Hi folks,

Sorry to bother you all on such a mundane thing but I'd like a bit of input.

I have a 2005 2.0 TDCI Mondeo Estate with 16" alloys. All of them are blistered and in a pretty bad state. The tyres are starting to approach limits and just yesterday one of them has developed a puncture.

This year is likely to see all 4 tyres replaced with new. However this will cost a few hundred and they will still be fitted to pretty horrible wheels.

I've seen some wheels on ebay, They look quite decent and come with tyres (I accept they will almost definitely be ditchfinders)

Here is set one..

and these..

Can anyone give some advice here. I understand they are 17" and I'm not sure what difference the offset would make to me. Would they fit okay?

I know my car is only about £2ks worth but the paintwork is immaculate and I dont mind spending if the wheels will have it look a lot better than it
currently does.

If I'm looking at the wrong sizes or anything could someone please point me in the direction of a decent deal for similar. For a Mk3 Mondeo estate.

Any advice much appreciated.

Very little real difference in offset between 35 and 40, what offset are your standard wheels? Ford's mostly have a pretty high offset so I think you'll be ok but need to know standards to be certain.

I think the offset is ET45 on the Mondeo. Although thats from a quick google. Ill have a proper look.

Ive found "New Mondeo 00> 5x108 offset 38 to 45 centre bore 63.4"

Can anyone just tell me whether my whole idea is a fair one or is it a waste of money?.

Well in the end I bought the 17" BK299s for £265 delivered.

I am not a fan of cheapass rubber on my wheels so I'm gonna stump up for some decent tyres to go with them.

Hopefully it all fits nicely. Might have to get the Eibach lowering springs to make it look better. (no rudeboy mods.. its a diesel mondeo lol)
