bit stuck on what to get please help

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

This is my first post here so ill start with my rig

i have

asus p6t-se mobo (think thats right)
intel i7 920 2.8 oced to 4.00ghz
corsair water-cooler thingy
6 gb ram
corsair 750w psu
1tb hitachi hdd
windows 7 ultimate
nzxt tempest case
hanns g 28" monitor @1920 x 1200
and an old BFG GTS 8800 320mb gpu

so basically my questions are i want to get a new card or cards and dont know what to get seems to be a bit of a minefield (is sli or crossfire possible on this mobo)
Looking to spend 250-300

have been looking around a little myself and am tempted by the MSI GTX 470 in sli
but have heard sli to be troublesome in the past is this still the case??
Will sli give overall better performance in games??

Is there a twin frozr version of the MSI GTX 570 ?? as ive heard that it runs 20 degrees cooler

looks like a gtx 570 then just another question why the MSI over the others??

Thanks to all sorry aint thanked in awhile had to do the weekly shop with the missus

so then as i can gather so far the GTX 480 is cheaper but reports say its hot and noisy
the GTX 570 is a hundred poundish more and performs the same (WTF)
ooh like the gainward though does this one run cool and quiet is important i guess to be cool
also can go about 30 pounds above but prefer to stay around 300 hundred quid

would love to do the night in the hotel with slap up dinner etc..
however the lover is going to be out of the country on work business that she really really really doesnt want to do ( in holland and not the fun part) so we are postponing till she gets back,
however we both think that valentines is overly commercial anyway

back on topic
thanks to all for the suggestions some food for thought there, going to do some more scouring of reviews etc.. and see what fits my needs the best

@KiiYzOo is a cooler like that as easy as fitting one on a cpu?? does thermal paste need reaplying and can i use the same thermal paste (as i already have some)

have decided on a gtx 570 which shall be ordered from OCUK tommorrow probablly go for the Gainward as it looks awesome (Im a sucker for looks) or the msi 570 as that i what was one of the original suggestions and you never know maybe they will have on on deals of the week,
