Hello ladies and gentlemen,

corsair water-cooler thingy
6 gb ram
corsair 750w psu
1tb hitachi hdd
windows 7 ultimate
nzxt tempest case
hanns g 28" monitor @1920 x 1200

Thankyou KiiYzOo for the quick reply

have been looking around a little myself and am tempted by the MSI GTX 470 in sli
but have heard sli to be troublesome in the past is this still the case??
Will sli give overall better performance in games??

Unfortunately the p6t se board doesnt support sli, crossfire only. For sli youd require the p6t/p6t dlx versions of the board.

I wouldn't go with crossfire as since your board doesn't support sli it will probably impede performance as it will most likely be running at 16x, 4x

Thankyou again again KiiYzOo

looks like a gtx 570 then just another question why the MSI over the others??

Edit:- as i could stretch the budget a little more

MSI is currently the cheapest 570. That's the only reason it is being recommended to you.
at the moment the only difference between the 570's are the box and stickers etc. Go for the cheapest or wait for a non reference one. Like the twin forzr for example

EDIT: Beaten by KiiYzoo :(

It doesn't support SLI officially, but the p6t-se can be easily BIOS flashed to a p6t. This enablles the microcode requires for SLI to work.

I know it works because I did this with my old p6t-se and it ran GTX460 SLI without a hitch.

However, I would personally opt for a single GTX480 @ £195. That will be a big upgrade for the OP, and only the GTX580 offers a faster single GPU option.

the gtx 570 is quieter and cooler running than the gtx 480 though and basically matches it's performance too

The benefits the 570 offers are slight and not worth £100 more. I am convinced the fuss about noise is over-exagerated from people who dont own the card or read a review on an engineering sample. I guess I wont know for sure until next week.

Being quieter when gaming (ie, you have your headphones on or your speakings blaring out gunfire) or 'cooler' (Whats the benefit here, a lower number in your hardware monitor) is not worth £100 when the performance is the same.

Thanks for this:) I do remember something about users crossflashing p6t deluxe v2's with v1 bios's to eliminate the issue of turbo throttling thats present on the v2.

Thanks to all sorry aint thanked in awhile had to do the weekly shop with the missus

so then as i can gather so far the GTX 480 is cheaper but reports say its hot and noisy
the GTX 570 is a hundred poundish more and performs the same (WTF)
ooh like the gainward though does this one run cool and quiet is important i guess to be cool
also can go about 30 pounds above but prefer to stay around 300 hundred quid

Provided the card runs within tolerances and does not have a fan you ever find intrusive, why does the heat matter if its exhuasted outside the case anyway?

Buy a GTX 480 and a night in a hotel for you and your girlfriend on 14th February. I guarantee this will result in a better gaming experience for your £300
