Ive just setup my new PC with the Bitfenix Recon, for some reason 1 of my fans (a 120mm CoolerMaster Fan) seems to turn on at 1900RPM then slow all the way down to 800RPM where it then stops (Beeps) & Restarts again at 1900RPM this just constantly repeats every few minutes. (the 200mm Bitfenix Spectre in the Front of My Case & a 230mm Bitfenix Spectre at the Side which are also connected to the controller seem to work fine) Ive tried setting a speed for it Manually but the same problem occurs. could anyone explain or recommend what to do (the only thing I can think of is to just plugging that 1 fan onto the MoBo (the main reason I bought the Recon was to glance over at the temp on the LED screen, rather than to play around with settings anyway). would that be advisable?

On a side note I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what to do with the 5 Temp things :p (should I remove the plastic covering, should I stick them places or leave them hanging. I really don't have a clue what to do with them) seems they could've done a better job with Instructions (Which Reminds Me THANKS to Tealc for his review mentioning the Middle USB :) )

Does it happen on a different fan channel?

If so I wonder if there's something amiss with the tach output of that particular fan. Recon seems to require the tach output of the fan to regulate its duty cycle and therefore voltage to the fan. It's also quite clear that the rpm reading displayed in recon isnt all that accurate and is probably derived from the duty cycle.

Correction, I made a mistake Fan2 is the CoolerMaster Fan at the back of the case that's the one causing the problems, would it be worth buying a 120mm Bitfenix Spectre Fan to replace it? (or should i just plug it into a fan header on the MoBo)

Likely means that the fan isnt getting enough power to run at its current duty cycle, i believe the recon at its lowest on auto will set it to 40%, you will need to use manual control and up the voltage to the fan or as you suggested, use the motherboard fan header.

thanks for the reply, Ive plugged it into the MoBo for now so all is good (I know its a stupid Question but can anyone recommend what to do with the Temp probes?)

Does the Coolermaster fan have 3 wires and does it normally give a tach signal to your motherboard.

I haven't attached the probes to anything. I've just put them near the area the fan is acting upon. So my rear fan probe sits just above my rear fan. My middle fan probe sits above my graphics card shoved in between the power cables. I'm no expert though.

(again stupid question) but did u remove the plastic tube from them?

first time Ive used the fan (bought everything for the build) & im not to clued up on tech, but here is the fan > http://www.coolermaster.co.uk/product.php?product_id=6037

I didn't bother removing the tube. Ambient temperatures won't be shielded by the tube so it makes little difference. If I wanted to stick it to a heatsink or something then I would remove the tube so the semi conductor material could be as close to the temperature I was reading as possible.

The fan does seem to be a 3 pin variety and in some images you can see all 3 wires going to the connector. As far as I can tell Recon needs the tach signal to regulate it's speed, although I've not tested it with a non tach signal fan to confirm this.

Thanks for Replying Tealc, Ill just plug that fan into the MoBo just now & maybe at some point replace it with a 120mm Spectre (as they look awsome :))
