BitFenix Recon the worst controller ever?

I just received and installed my BitFenix Recon fan controller and it is horrendous, doesn't fit in the drive bay properly, the software installation was a pain, the online and desktop control doesn't even work, the fan controller screen barely works, and no matter the RPM you set your fans at it's either on or off, there is no actual control at all.

Why are these things selling out? Why do people want a fan controller that is worse than the headers on my motherboard?

Literally just a "touch" (you have to push your finger into the screen) on and off switch?

Honestly, literally nothing works, all it can do it turn my fans on and off. But I have to use the touchscreen to do it as the online and mobile things do nothing.

There is obviously an issue with the way you have installed it then. I got mine 4 months ago and wish I'd bought it sooner. It's amazing!

Take it all out & start again. Read the instructions and THIS.

If you have further issues, just post your questions :)

ok

What exactly is the problem you are having?

Be specific?

The fans are either on or off, no matter what RPM you set the fan at it's just on. 600 RPM = max speed, 500 RPM = max speed.

Also none of the online control works, I can access it it and change the RPM but nothing happens.

Ok.

Remove the software you have installed and download Phoebetria. It's better than the official software. When you set the fan speeds, it can take 5-10 seconds for the speed to reduce as you desire.

Make sure not to remove the temp probes as it will not work without them.

Do you have the temperature sensors attached? If not then it will either go at full pelt or zero.

Is your temperature threshold set too low? Once it goes above the threshold the fans go to 100%.

The Recon isn't perfect (mine has an issue that causes the speed to go from one speed top another and back for a few minutes before it settles) but it looks nice.

Probes are in, temp is 23 degrees, threshold is 70 degrees, still only doing 100% or nothing. I've also use that other program and it doesn't work.

My findings were that you have to press the fan icon on the Recon, so it flashes, then adjust as desired and wait several seconds for the Recon to adjust the speeds. If you are doing this then maybe there's something wrong with your Recon as it's meant to actually adjust speeds.

What about Auto mode?

I had the same problem with my Recon, it would have my fans do 100% then down to minimum then back to 100% etc etc, probably the worst fan controller I've ever bought.

For auto to work you need a temp probe connected for each fan you have connected. I found out this as mine defaulted to %100 until I connected them.

Edit - Already mentioned it sounds faulty I would RMA.

Just a little annoyed recently as I spent an absolute fortune on water cooling too and found out that was also completely pointless as it ended up so much louder than air.

How did you manage to make it louder than normal air cooling?
