I've installed the BitFenix Recon but where do I place these?

They seem accurate enough to me. Thermistors aren't the most accurate way to measure temperature electronically but will be within a degree or two of actual temperature. Add Recon error and you are only going to be a few degrees out at most.

I wrapped mine all together and just placed them behind the Motherboard in the CPU cutout. They don't seem that accurate to be honest, but still does a decent job left on auto.

How inaccurate are they?

I have one on my cpu backplate that never goes above 25.c and one on my gpu heatpipe that never goes above 35.c.

I now just use auto for general browsing as the fans are kept low and manual for gaming with the fans set to give good cooling but not too loud.

Interesting. Maybe you got a bad batch, 'cause mine seem pretty accurate. As accurate as you'd expect from an uncalibrated device at any rate (my multimeter measure temperature as well and the one time I checked it reported much the same temp as one of my probes. Did you leave the plastic covers on (I believe you should)?

I agree about the auto not working well for gaming. Which is why my software will allow custom curves so that a more aggressive curve can be defined
