Well semi-pro ive uploaded it but i cant seem to link it the file is a .m4a, so if you could please relink them to it, that'd be great!

I like it, not being a musician I can't really think of anything that would make it sound better. I just like what I hear and as above I love the vocals.

Actually as good if not better than pretty much all of the stuff in the charts these days. I nearly said "crap in the charts" but this song isn't crap.

Sounds like a poor Sharlene Spiteri rip off. Sorry.

And before anyone gets offended: no, I couldn't do any better but that's irrelevant.

Not a patch on the original.

OP, who is 'they'? A band?

I dont pretend to be musical but that is better than the original IMO (which I really liked). Prefer the vocals too.

Only criticism I can find is maybe in parts the drums are too loud/boring.

Agree with comments about the drums - there is too much use of the crash symbol (at the end of every 4 bars nearly). Also I think the drums are a little too prominent and be less 'obvious' if you get me.

I recorded the drums, but the guy who produced it tends to like cutting up the drums and looping :)

shes a brillaint singer who has worked with massive attack before :)

Is it a kind of showcase piece or was it recorded as a demo for someone or just done for a laugh?

The drums are a little too harsh IMO, they sound too dry or programmed, possibly down to the looping the producer has done.

It's a nice enough recording but looses a lot from the original IMO.

I'm trying to be constructive btw, apologies if I sound like a tool, just being honest:)

Just gone back to the original and had a listen, it's really a very simple composition but I think what makes it is the sense of space and size that the string section creates and the drumming seems a lot looser and kind of more relaxed, then there's Ashcrofts voice of course. I know you weren't trying to remake he Verve version but there are certain elements to it that just make a repetative song like that work in the first place.

I do think that your string arrangements are superb by the way :) What did you use for the strings?

I don't like the voice, the drums are a bit annoying and when the guitar comes in it all sounds a bit fussy. Love the strings, though. And I hated everything about the original.

i really dont know about the strings, i believe it was a male player called kim from norway, or netherlands i forget, on cello and that was about it, i couldnt honestly say i was just asked to session on the track....

the drums as i remember them were a fluent recording all the way through but he's used beat detetive and looped the heck out of it.... so i can't really argue with him as its his work. as for the recording it was done like a year ago.
