Bizarre Coincidences

My weirdest one was going to view a house, deciding not to buy it.

Then 5 years later started seeing a girl and turned out her family were the ones to buy it, they had the viewing straight after us and if they hadn't fallen in love with the house were going to move to Australia.

What was actually quite strange was I didn't like the 'feeling' in one of the rooms. Didn't mention it to her but when I got the tour of the house that room was nearly empty. It had an amazing view over the beach and sea. Asked her why it was empty and it turns out that non of her family liked the 'feeling' in it.

I'm a postman. On my delivery I have 596 addresses.

The other day I had a parcel for re-delivery for an address near the end of my delivery (6 Garvally Crescent). Just as I chapped the door I got a call on my mobile from my office. Just as I answered the customer came to the door, so I explained to the guy from office that customer had came to door and i would speak to him in a second. So I handed the woman the parcel then as I walked down the stairs got phone out my pocket and proceeded to speak to guy from my office. He said that a guy had been in looking for his parcel... The guy stayed at 6 Garvally Crescent, the very house I was just at. So i explained the parcel had been put out for re-delivery in the morning and I had just that very second delivered it.

Bare in mind I am only at each address for a few seconds each and the delivery can take up to 4 hours, it was some coincidence to receive that call asking about that parcel, while I was standing at that very door.

Not really, depending on how many of these calls you get and how long you've been a postie this is bound to happen probability would suggest. For example with 596 addresses, if you got 1 call a day like this then you'd only need 413 days before the odds you'd actually just been to that house on one of your days because higher than 50%. That's less than two years based on a 5 day week.

It is pretty much the only call of its kind I have had in nearly 9 years of being in the job.

Nah, I'm not having that to be honest.

You have to understand, even if I did receive a similar call each day, you would have to assume it would be at a random time within an approximate 4 hour period and would be with regard to 1 of a possible 596 addresses. Now, bare in mind a delivery doesn't run like clockwork. Just because I am 1 address at 11:17 1 day, doesn't mean I will be at the same address or anywhere in close proximity at the same time the next day.

That's the bit I don't get as they are completely different. Anyway, just a coincidence.

Are your FB and OCUK accounts registered under the same address?

When I joined FB it started suggesting friends for me. It was literally scary. I had no idea how it knew some of the people I had known in my life. I don't really want to think about it.

illuminati obviously

They are very real.

How about this one then, a guy on OCUK posts a thread about coincidences on Facebook. The next day I log onto Facebook, scroll down a bit and see two of my friends post these statuses....

The two people don't know each other and have never met and don't see each other's statuses, one uses the expression 'to let the cat out the bag' and the other immediately posts a picture featuring a cat coming out of a bag. Those two are next to each other in my timeline, I haven't edited the screenshot (other than to hide their identities of course)

Spooky man!

my two biggest coincidence involved eBay.

1) Two blokes came to me at work and asked if I could search on that internet thing I had for a BBC horror series from the 70's and some particular football videos.
I did a search on eBay and found both items they were after and the sellers wanted cheques so I contacted both of them.
Bear in mind that the sellers could be anywhere in the world and the addresses came back and both of them were eg 55 Smithpool Road, Fenton, Stoke On Trent etc so obviously it was the same person using two trading names.
This was a coincidence because what were the chances of the same person selling both items?
The coincidence didn't stop there though, I then contacted the seller to tell him that one customer lived at number 61 and the other lived at number 9 in the same Road and he went to their doors and got the cash

2) I bought a music DVD that the seller also wanted a cheque and he sent me his mobile number. I rang him up for his address and he lived 2 miles away.

the first bit yeah, and the fact they lived in the same road as they seller but doesn't ebay automatically base it's listing on distance? In other words anyone close is put to the top? Still a strange coincidence though.

I had a bit of a strange coincidence a few years back.

I was working a network support tech at the time, my patch was anything south of Manchester. We had another guy doing the same job covering Manchester and North. We met up perhaps once every 3 months or so for meetings.

Anyhoo, on this occasion i drove to Edinburgh to assist him on an install. While on this job i had a call on my mobile from the Police regarding a break-in that i had reported (which i hadnt) Turns out that the call was for the guy i met up in Edinburgh!
Granted, our mobile numbers were very similar, but for them to call on the rare occasion that we were together was a bit weird.

Cookies in the browser, a trainer for a course I was on went to google something and all his adverts were about Thai brides :D
