Now this one you will NEVER believe as I for one cant believe this.

Now this may be a little long winded but BEAR with me here. You'll never believe this.

Right my computer is upstairs. Hard wired to a Netgear DG834G V2 wireless router. The Telephone cable goes all the way downstairs into the Main master socket.
I have Wireless enabled as I have a girlfriend with a wireless laptop and a wireless music player.

Now for the last year nothing at all has changed in my set up. NOTHING. But for the last 4 days my internet signal keeps getting lost. I could not work it out at all. Could hardly connect at all. Rang Netgear and my ISP and they cannot sort it so thought it was my Router and sorted out a replacement.

BUT this is where it goes Bizarre. I have in the last month bought a External Hard drive (80GB). Which is powered from the Mains and plugs into my computer via USB. When I plug it in I loose internet connection. I know that. So fair enough, odd but fair enough.

Now I have just bought this from Overclockers http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=AV-000-SV&groupid=703&catid=880&subcat=

and it works fine. It is connected downstairs in my Lounge. I have now attached my External Hard Drive to the DVD player and I watch Films / Photos etc on it. I thought "I wonder if this is the cause" so unplugged it and Internet is (touch wood) 100% fine.

HOW ON EARTH is the External Drive that is Mains powered and then USB to the DVD (or computer) disconnecting me form the net!

When the external Hard Drive is downstairs there is no computer there. Only a TV, VHS PLayer, A/V Amp etc, All I can think of is that it SOMEHOW transmits something (God knows what) through the cables, including getting into the home phone line and in turn works it way into the telephone line and stops my internet signal, I have filters on all sockets (2)

Anyone shed any light on this please?

So Bizarre!
