Ok, so my set up is a raptor x, 2x 320gb 7200.10 seagate barracudas, 1x samsung 500gb, all sata II drives and pretty new
I had the seagates in a raid array
..
So basically my system was fine for ages.. then all of a sudden, occasionally, when i double click a folder i get a pause, then one of the drives seems to make a nosie, similar to a noise you would hear if u just put a cd in a drive and it began to spin, for a few seconds, then resume the process. I've taken out the raid array to avoid any issues and now im just running the two drives. It appears sometimes the raptor makes odd noises, but so far it hasn't acted up. Does anyone know what kinds of noises are normal for a raptor to make?
Diagnostic software is useless, all comes back clean, no idea whats going on with my system, if im looking at an rma, or if it was just cos i had vista the drives slow down after a while for no real reason. A couple of newsgroups clients also had issues, and couldnt save anything to that disk, and then both. Also when playing back hd video, which i NEVER had problems with, i came across errors where the picture froze, but the sound continued, and then the picture sped up to catch it!
