Finally first look at Dwayne as Black Adam. Evil Superman, Capt Marvel/Shazam take your pick. :D

New DC Movies trailer 2022- as well as the movies coming out it also introduces Hawkman, Dr Fate (Pierce Brosnan) as well as Black Adam.

So he is indestructible? Looks rubbish.

From the trailer I gather the revolution is he's a superhero who kills people, because nobody ever made a Deadpool film or 2 and Batman didn't kill anybody in Batman vs Superman so I guess they kind of forgot (are the Game of Thrones writers writing this ?)

He's basically an evil Superman with no moral restrictions or limits. If we are going by the comics. (Copy of Venom antihero imo).

Actually might be good. Antihero is way more interesting than goody goody superhero. Part of what makes The Boys so good in my opinion.

If the movie portrays him anything like the source material. Expect him to be as brutal and violent as Homelander :D

You understand that's the point of a spoiler right? The info in it is all over the web anyway, if you're going to see the film I'd see it fast.

Really ? Thanks for explaining what a spoiler is. Still puzzled why you would even want to post that when the movie not even released?? You then point out it's over the net anyway so your helping the cause by sharing it here??

The usual rule seems to apply, low 'critic' score means the movie is pretty decent.

Just back from it today and it was good. It's not End game Level but it was no where near as bad as some of the reviews made out.

Good news though this movie made Walter Hamada (DC movies CEO who canned Snyderverse) got sidelined and overruled by David Zaslav WB(CEO) because he wouldn't allow what Dwayne wanted. Let's just say Dwayne got his way and now that's opened the door for what most of the fans have been waiting for.

Black Adam/Shazam was created by a bunch of wizards who each gave him a specific gift. Modern Shazam, if I recall, was only given powers by that one wizard in the the subway. (I may have forgotten parts).

So is BA a more powerful version of Shazam?
From the comics BA is the first champion of the Wizards. So each his powers is the arconym of Shazam. Cap Marvel (Shazam) has the exact same powers. So despite the council being diluted, his powers aren't any less is my understanding.

Difference is BA doesn't hold back and has no issues killing which is what got him removed as the champion.

All I want or expect of comic book movies is for them to be a fun time, recent marvel p4 releases and the bulk of DC stuff havent been so as long as it's fun I'll enjoy it. I'm actually going to see it on Sunday (only be the 2nd time I'm going to the cinema this year, 1st one was The Northman)

Imo it's better than any Phase 4 Marvel TV series if that helps you. One gripe I got though the original BA cut was R-rated and WB changes to PG-13. :(

Would not mind watching the original cut with full fat violence.

Second viewing today. Imo better than Dr Strange 2 and Thor L&T.

Surprised they didn't do Dr Fate movie earlier with Pierce Brosnan or JSA movie .

I hope Zack Snyder is involved with making any form of follow up film, his version of Justice League was imho excellent.

There been an announcement now from someone official ***Warning Contains Spoilers from Black Adam***

Henry Cavill just announce this is just a start for his return as Superman

Forgot to mention you had actually highlighted a good point. I thought they were exactly the same power wise but notice this from the movie.

Black Adam - SHAZAM - Egyptian Gods
The Stamina of Shu:

The Swiftness of Horus: Superluminal speed

The Strength of Amon: Superhuman strength

The Wisdom of Zehuti

The Power of Aten:

The Courage of Mehen

Capt Marvel - SHAZAM - Greek Gods

Wisdom of Solomon

Strength of Hercules

Stamina of Atlas

Power of Zeus

Courage of Achilles

Speed of Mercury

Still 90% on RT user reviews.
Made 250 million so far, in like 10 days.

Shazam, in 2019 made 366 million across it's entire release frame.
It's already outgrossed Suicide Squad and WW 1984, albeit they had covid to deal with.

The Rock is built like a superhero, so all joking aside, who doesn't want to watch him don a cape! If I find some down time I may even watch it again at the cinema, even though its only a 7/10 for me! :D

I think some people forget how popular and a nice guy Dwayne Johnson is! He has a great work ethic and puts passion into everything he does. He deserves this success and I'm sure he will double down on the DCEU now. By all accounts he applied the pressure to get Henry Cavill back as Superman. Normally I would say that's hyperbole, but in this case I believe it.

/fanboy mode off.

Edit: My only regret is he chose DCEU over MCU. But i think that was the right move as I doubt he would get as much input in Marvel as he (claims) he had in his DC character.

rp2000

Think I am the few that watched it twice. So glad Walter Hameda is out and James Gunn stepping into the role and heading in the direction "making movies what the fans want" and "listening to fans" as quoted from Dwayne. Reckon JG will finish GotG 3 before he fully into DCU.

Wonder where Cavill coming back leaves the flash movie, supposed to be this big dceu reset and bring in the 'new' versions of superman etc, even without all of its issue with Ezra Miller it kind of seems a bit pointless.

I hope they bring back Synder but i know he did not part in good terms with DC, so will most likely decline even if they offered more oppertinutues to him.
