Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, Sarah Lancashire as you've never seen them before. Black Doves, a six-episode spy thriller, coming December 5th.

I'm a bit torn by this as I really like spy thrillers but maybe I'm a little burnt out on them after watching so much Slow Horses recently (binged all 5 seasons within a month) but this looks like a great cast. However something about watching Knightly, who lets be fair isn't exactly known for her high-octane stunt work normally, just rip through people as a "bad-ass" spy (something that I would normally find utterly ridiculous) seems to float my boat. I'll give it a go I think.

Watched the first three episodes so far.

Did anyone else spot the single guitar playing Breathe by Pink Floyd very, very slowly when Sam is in the bar and the restaurant and again at about 45 minutes in during episode 3?

Really good first couple of episodes but then the plot seems to entirely go out of the window in favour of 'the message' where the spy/thriller seemed to be entirely swapped out for exploring the various cast members homosexual relationships.
That's fine, but felt like I was watching an entirely different series during ep 4+5 than the beginning of the series.

Couldn't agree more. There was quite at lot of the relationship stuff that was utterly irrelevant, unless something changed dramatically in editing.

Also Keira Knightley character was too high profile to be credible wandering around the place. That aside I thought the acting was good. Many scenes in the plot were just not credible though.

Decent but flawed.

My wife mentioned this, but honestly how many wives and partners of politicians are you genuinely aware of? I wouldn't even recognise the PMs wife if I walked past her.

There are people who remember such things. Especially those working in such circles. Any way for people supposedly working in the shadows all the characters had abysmal personal security, use of phones etc. It just made it a little less credible. It's a minor quibble.

Netflix is pushing the algorithms on this a lot in my socials :p Any good or is it a lame Slow Horses clone?

Not every spy, underworld series is a de facto slow horses clone, with a cast of misfits.

It's a different animal. I would say it not as good, but not half bad at the same time.

Finished it and enjoyed it for the most part, don't think it was heavy handed with 'the message' at all, couple of scenes of people kissing and that was it.

Looking forward to s2, guessing the nanny is likely to be the main dove in s2 with how they revealed her at the end of the last episode.

I enjoyed this. Its tone was a bit weird,
generally very serious but other trigger-girls (?) were like comedy relief, that's not to say I didn't enjoy their parts, in fact I looked forward to them.
