At some point in 2014, I will finally get round to building a new gaming system, my ~2007 Q9300 has lasted surprisingly well (only thing swapped out was the dying 8800GTS 512 recently).

Would the Corsair 850W be completely overkill, given I am unlikely to run 2 GPUs anytime soon, regardless of whether I build an Intel or AMD system?

my rm850 arrived today to same eu plug but doesnt matter got like 10 round the house. Unit feels really sturdy and weighty compared to my out going psu, hopefully with the cleaner power i should have a far more stable system now.

Same here. Will just use the old cable from my HX520 but for anyone doing a 1st time build it will be frustrating.

Got my RM850 today with my Patriot 2400 RAM! PSU is very solid as others have said
