Black Friday deals

you know you're getting old when you hunt Black Friday for a new vacuum cleaner bargain rather than some cool gadgets :-/
had a look on Amazon but the "bargains" just seem to be the common price everywhere, seems people are just mostly doing the usual trick of putting a "was" price that is possibly the recommended price but was never offered anywhere close to that, but makes it look like a half-price bargain.

If it helps, I bought this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Shark-Cord...ds=shark+anti+hair&qid=1606046659&sr=8-4&th=1 (the 40mins one with pet tool) for £200 on Prime Day and it's a great bit of kit.

cheers, it's actually one of the other Sharks that i was tempted by,they seem to get some very good reviews. i've had a look on camelcamelcamel and the price does seem a bit of a drop but it bounces between full price and around this bargain price quite often, so the Black Friday hype doesn't seem all that special, one of the past drops was actually £15 or so cheaper, so i think i might just wait.

I bought this model last night direct off the Shark site for £170 with blue light card discount, if it helps anyone.

Black Friday was good the first year they marketed it now it's just used to try to offload overpriced tat that doesn't otherwise sell, under the guise of big discounts.

In the USA, a number of manufacturers have UPP (Unilateral Pricing Policy) or MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) policies to prevent their products from being sold at a different (or sometimes just lower) price than what the manufacturer has defined. Any resellers not in compliance are either refused service or refused product. I was told by a Best Buy employee that LG has a UPP for its TVs (and a colleague told me the same is true for most laundry appliances). This somewhat takes the wind out of Black Friday, because these products will never be cheaper than whatever the manufacturer defines. Thankfully, a UPP doesn't necessarily stop other things being bundled in for "free"; I recently found that one retailer was offering an LG OLED TV that included a free aftermarket warranty and Hulu credit, and it wasn't able to be matched by another retailer that offered a price match guarantee, because the retailer itself was providing the extra warranty and Hulu credit, not the manufacturer.

Shark are pretty naff as cordless, had one for the last 2 years and thought it was good until I recently got the Dyson v11 absolute for 400 new. Complete different ball game, suction is incredible.

Just bought a Ring Video Doorbell for £59.
I just want it for live view and live notifications, I have Blinks that upload to the cloud.

Oh and another 4K Firestick for £29.

Really as vacuum wars on YouTube rate them as the best one to buy for a mid budget.

If on low budget then tineco.

If you have high budget then the top end Dyson is the one they rate the V12 is it.

They rated the shark better than dysons lower end models and it's less than half the price.

The tests they do are comprehensive.

V12 does not exist yet. V11 Absolute is the latest top end Dyson cordless. It is literally as good as the Miele cordedni had a while back.

Whatever it is. Yeah in the top end the Dyson v11 is the best in the top end category.

In the mid end category which is half the budget the shark is the best to buy.

We have went from a Miele to a shark and it's been fine.

Vacuum wars has all the info you need.

I was about to question you when you said shark is better than the v11. I've had the one that won the mid end category, it's awful in comparison. The V11 has given a new lease of life to my carpets. However, I did only pay 400 for it brand new which is very cheap with discount. I probably wouldn't pay 600 RRP

Edit: guess I misread your post

Yeah the top end Dyson is better but only marginally so for double the price.

The shark does a good enough job for the majority of folk.

It's like comparing a BMW 5 series with an Aston Martin. Most would be perfectly fine with the 5 series. The Aston is better bust most don't want to spend that much on a car.

Vacuum wars rates shark as the best and better than the Dyson V8 or whatever their mid end model is around the same price range.

I'm sure if shark launched a £600 vacuum it would give the Dyson a run for its money. They are in two different budget categories so not a fair direct comparison.

On the lookout for some powerline adapters and an SSD* let me know if you see anything:D

*I upgraded my pc and the first game I downloaded was Red Dead Redemption 2 which filled up my boot SSD woops :p

crikey, all i said was i was looking for a vacuum and all-out war ensues.
all i'll say is i've done a lot of review reading etc, and people consistently put the Shark above Dyson, like for like. And the day i'd consider spending £4~600 on a vacuum is a day that will never come.

Looking for a 14TB drive for backups. Currently round the £280 mark but, according to camelcamelcamel they’ve been £180ish. If one pops up that low I think I’ll have one or two
