Soooo....

I've managed to create an "entertainments room" out of our old playroom for the kids.

I've bought the below sofa for £550 electric from love sofa.... and MY GOD its comfy... Plus Electric.

I have been holding out for a 4k TV 55inch, I've checked online and the sofa eye level is exactly 5.5ft from where the screen will go... Thus it being at "cinema" distance.

I'm hoping to get a 55" 4k TV for £400 - £500..... I have no intention of paying any more than that for anything less in size!

Question is tho.... a sound bar!! Hmmmm

Anybody got some inside knowledge of any deals coming out on the 24th of Nov? I've booked the day off to go and buy and fit!

My Cable plan:

Sofa ... wehey... Honestly, DFS was twice as much and had to wait 3- 4 months for it!

I've always bought cheap TV's since 2006 when I first moved in... Despite many saying about the benefits of spending £100s more. To this day I still have most of the TVs I bought back then

Not to mention the fact that the below TV will likely be around 450 - 550 on the 24th, if not something else along those lines. I just don't get sucked in to spiel and all the new "gen" bs.... Got some friends who pay £1500+ for TVs.... I go over and they're watching Kodi on them... laughable!

Rather spend £££ on a decent sofa with a TV that'll do the job!

Hiesence is the way forward, a lot of people complain but I put mine under a lot of stress everyday and it's still going strong *touch wood*

I paid £350 for brand new 55" 4k HDR

Hiesence seems to be your only real screen option.

Ditch the sound bad and get an amp and speakers more flexibility and loads better sound.

You're right... its defo not a "sofa".... Its more a cinema chair... literally feels like we're at the pictures, plus the kids absolutely love the fact they can go back and fore and lying flat! This isn't in our living room this is in a purpose build room.

Its entirely your choice of course and this is only an outsiders view on my part so dont be offended but you are basically putting an average price TV in as you say a purpose build room. Most people consider a cinema room or Man Cave (as I've seen on here) to also have a TV fit for purpose too. Its a bit like going to an IMAX or XPLUS cinema and watching the Movie on a 65" TV screen. Yes your seat may go up and down and back and forth and be really comfy but the picture is no where near as good as it could be. Don't even mention again you are going to use a soundbar either. I take it also its only for two people, no kids allowed.

Not offended at all. Being a family man, i put my kids first buy not wasting ££££ on pointless TV's while using kodi. Its the "cinema room" is a posh word for a sofa in front of my computer station with a TV on the wall in front. We have a decent TV in the living that we'll watch family films. The "cinema room" is for either our girls to chill out and watch a film or for us to watch a film series when their in bed.

As for the sound bar, listening to replies here i'm looking in to an app and speakers..... Maybe when the kids are older i'll look at moving my pc back out of the room and it be officially become a purpose built cinema room with a proper TV.

£200. No chance. You would be better off going for second hand but you need to decide what you want ? 2.1 ? 5.1 ? ie for the latter have you the space and/or permission to have 5 speakers ?

With regards to your purpose built room I think opinions differed because when most people have such a room they fill in with decent kit yet yours is more of a no frills chill out room.

not all of us use Kodi by the way.

I would love a cinema room but we dont have the space even though we have a big house. The lounge is my "cinema room" with an above average £1000 TV (at the time), and I've just updated the speakers to Dolby Atmos (5.1.2). I have a 5yr old and a 7yr old and I have Dynamic Eq enabled etc which means I can have the sound up fairly loud and not wake up the little darlings yet still get brilliant surround sound.

On that note.... Amp and speaker set. Any suggestion on a set for around £200?
How important is bass to you? Personally I love a decent sub, but some people just don't care and if the kids are in bed then you'll probably have it turned down anyway. It will save you quite a lot if you don't want one as cheap ones are terrible.
