Hi everyone - my first post and I need help!

Here's what I have:
Black ops m/b
Processor Q6660
2x2gb DDR3 OCZ PC3 10666 OCZ3P13334GK (which shows up as OCZ3P13332G in CPU-Z for some reason?)
Radeon 4850 xxx (latest CCC drivers)
Vista sp2 (all updated)
HD and DVD drive

I put the system together a few days ago, installed vista and then updated all drivers and bios via foxliveupdate - bios is now P07.

Here's my problem - the system runs slow and crashes.

With 2gb stick in slot 1, the machine will run OK(ish), boot into windows but will crash on exit from fallout 3 (with various other glitches before exiting etc), and will freeze when playing company of heroes and need a reset. These are the only two games I've tested.

With 4gb installed in slots 1&3, the machine boots into windows then almost immediately bluescreens with a memory management message.

I've reset the CMOS several times. I've tried every combination of memory in all slots. I've run memtest86 (albeit very slowly, it took 6 hrs to complete 1 test) and the blackops manual isn't very helpful. I've tried overriding the SPD and manually set the timings for the memory.

One thing that concerns me is that there were two extra 'chips' in the m/b package that I have no idea what their function is. There is no mention of them in the manual.

Anyone got any ideas? Anyone got a blackops m/b? Thanks in advance.

Hi
Have you checked Volts for ram as its 1.65 stock, and i could be wrong but does that ram needs more ? 1.8 or am i looking at the wrong stuff ?

Incidentally, the onboard LED indicates the message 'FF' when it's all booted up and running in Vista. Does this mean anything?

Thanks shads, I didn't mean to sound blunt.

Looking at those codes might mean something to me if the system was hanging, but it's not - it boots into vista then messes about. Hmmmmm.

I'm emailing with Warren @ o/c's - he suggests I should reset the bios - ermmm, sorry to sound like a nobhead, but how do I do that? Sorry to ask so many questions! I sound like a demanding child.

Hi shads, I keep looking at those pages and still can't see it. I can see how to clear the cmos (there's a button to do that as well!) and a bios select to force bios 1 or bios 2, but don't see how to clear it or reset the bios. I'm such a noob I should have bought a simpler m/b!

A development...

When I turn on the PC and it runs through the black ops boot screen, just before it goes into vista a message flashes up for about 1/10 second. I couldn't read it so I videod it and it says ' ANCI bios not installed!! '

this has to mean something.... right?

Clear cmos is a reset thats what i thought, some say unplug remove batt and leave for a few mins but not sure tba.
The anci is some thing in bios set wrong i think.
I have a black ops but its not been used only once its just sat there looking at me :)
So im a bit noob on them.
Xs forums there is a lot on the black ops.
