Black Ops problem - help please

When I play Black Ops sometimes when the map changes for the first round I get 999 ping and basically stop.

I have a decent enough pc to play the game (which it does fine) and a 10m cable connection, so I dont know why this happens. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there rate settings I can alter that might change this?

After the first round everything is fine, and even then, it doesnt always happen, but it's bloody annoying when it does! I've experienced this at different times of day and night too, so I'd be fairly sure its not a busy time for the internet connection.

Everything standard still at the moment.

I cant remember what the standard is sorry! Let me google that. Also, is it on every server your using?

Yeah it makes no difference which server I'm on

Well try adjusting your rate from high to low maybe gaps of 10 and fine tuning or perhaps re-installing if you haven't tried this already.

It's a Steam install, I've verified the files and defragged but made no difference. May try it again!

It's rate maxpackets and snaps in these games iirc?

increase maxpackets to 100 and you should be fine
