Just got Black Ops, running good with 16xaa + 8xSSAA on High quality in Nvidia control panal.

Sometimes though with 8xssaa on it stutters when there is a lot on the screen?

Maybe its too much for 1 480?

Tried SLI but microstutter is bad, like with all my Call of dutys

Raven, are you getting 1 of them coolers?

I was going to do the same, as my 480s are at 850 on the core, just will make things cooler.
Hopefully close to 580 levels!

Its the game not your card. !!

Badly coded and huge issues with lag and stuttering on both SP and MP.

Leave those screws alone and go and visit the PC Games section of the forum.;)

Personal attacks aren't needed

Ok Ok sorry Mods.

But the game looks fine code wise from my point of view :/

From what the OP has described he is experiencing issues that a lot of other people are with this particular 'game'.

He was about to take his card apart and void his warranty for the wrong reasons.

So everybody else is wrong as you have no issues ? Interesting.

With Black Ops its the game itself. And regardless of what others say there is a problem with it. :p

Visit the Black Ops thread in the PC Games section.

As for the other COD games I couldn't comment except to ensure that you have the latest drivers installed.

Microstutter is a well documented issue with SLi systems I'm afraid but to what extent you are getting it with other COD games I have no idea.

Hi al i have taken this from another site i hope this is ok ?

First of all, there are two config files. One for singleplayer, one for multiplayer. so make sure you change both. Go to your Call of Duty Black Ops folder, then go into Player, and there should be a config and also a config_mp. Open it up and look for the lines...

seta r_multiGpu "1"
seta r_multithreaded_device "0"

Make sure GPU is set to 1 if you run SLI and also set seta r_multithreaded_device "1"

Haven't tried SLI with blackops yet but I've never had microstutter with past COD games - I spent awhile testing my new GTX470 SLI on MW2 last night and it was as smooth as single card (not really suprising tho as MP caps at 85fps).

Just tried black ops... and I'm pretty sure its the game... tried every combination of settings, etc. holding 125fps solid (capped in config) but it still feels like a lot lower fps and lots of very short pauses, etc. 8x SSAA is no better/worse than 4x AA or even 32x TRAA.

If it is anything like the ATI cards have you tried turning off all the settings in Nvidia Control Panel like AA and SSAA and set them ingame?

Yes, but I like my games looking the best they can.
thats why I went with 2 480s.
Most games you can push and they look amazing!
But seems some stutter after too much SSAA is forced.

TIP > tighting the screws slighly before you unscrews them, this helps to break the tension of any locking compound a lot less lightly to strip the screw head and always use the correct fitting screwdriver get a descent make, cheap one's you'll notice the tips damage easily which also causes you to strip the screw heads.. ;)

Regarding Black ops my game played much better with crossfire disabled ?
still lagging but that is a server issue.

Same engine as all the other COD yet they f%$& it up
oh well wait for patch then......
