Hey guys, I was playing CS:Source on my ATI x700pro and the game froze, the system then rebooted and makes it to the windows logon screen. I enter my username and password and the windows startup sound plays but the screen just goes black, then about 20 seconds later the system reboots again.. Any ideas?

Thanks

Well something's gone wonky. Could be a number of things, maybe temp related (check temps). Your previous crash could have corrupted Windows. Can you get into Safe Mode OK? Could be drivers got messed up too, see Safe Mode. I'd have a look in your case, reseat all cables - make sure all fans are OK. Check PSU rails in BIOS.

hmm, might be best off posting this in the Windows forum as you might be more of a response.

Anyways, check to see if you can get yaself into safe mode. If so, disable automatic restarting.

System Properties - Advanced - [Startup and Recovery]Settings

Remove the checkmark from "Automatically Restart" in the System Failure section.

If its a windows problem it should then give you a BSOD and we can work from that.

btw, have you just updated any drivers or anything like that?

Sorry for the late replies. The problem mentioned here was actually mine. I was at "SideShows" lan when this happened.

Basically, im still trying to fix the problem. I kinda forgot about it for abit as I was able to run my backup card, a Nvidia Mx440. Basically, a problem that occurred later was during the windows loading screen, the windows logo would have large black, pixelated spots on it and when the logon screen loaded it would not display the colours properly.

Ive only really renewed interest in this after I downloaded the Dark Messiah of Might and Magic demo and was unable to run it on my pc. Thanks to those who gave replies, ill look into the points mentioned.

Im going to try the card again in an hour or so to see if it was just being tempermental on the night, but if anyone has any answers or suggestions (regarding the topic ;) ), please feel free to post them.

Ok, I tried the card again. Got a pixellated Windows logo, and then, the blue screen of death :(. It said the product I was using was not recognised by the pc and could prove damaging (or something like that, I have a really bad memory).

I just dont understand what went wrong with the card. Id had it about 6 months, never overclocked, never put any major strain on it and it just nackeres itself.

Anyway, im probably chasing a lost cause but if anyone has any new ideas after looking at my 2 posts along with SideShows, please share them!
