Removed bios ez clock on cpu and ram first so all at stock.
Reseated graphics card.
Tried so far,
Fresh instal with drivers on disc.
Reseated graphics card.
Fresh instal and up to date drivers from AMD site.
Only one stick of ram in.
Power supply is supposed to be man enough.
When it black screens monitor shows its getting signal from card and the pc continues running.
Its totally random and I cant recreate a scenario to repeat it.
It happens when on desktop just browsing net or in a game.

Anything else to try before I contact the shop

bypass the graphics card and try and run straight from your on-board graphics. If your computer runs fine been plugged into that then its a graphics card issue. If you still black screen even plugged into the onboard graphics then you have a problem on your board/cpu.

Just updated to the latest Bios and put both sticks of ram back, see if that fixes it before i go to on board graphics.

Sounds like the infamous 290 black screen issue.

There's a number of things you can do to try remedy it, though if the card's under warranty you may as well return it.

First is to make sure the card is getting enough power. With the PCS+ you may be pushing it a bit if you're overclocking, though that is a decent power supply. Some have found it helps to use two power cables to connect the card to the power supply, though this should not matter too much with a single 12V rail. Another thing you can do to ensure the card is not starved of juice it to install Afterburner and set the card power limit to +25%.

Also make sure you've got decent ventilation in that case. I have an H440, and though a great-looking case, the airflow is not the best. The PCS+ has a great cooler on it, but it dumps the hot air back in the case. I have a couple of PCI exhaust fans to help exhaust the hot air. Do you have any fans mounted in the top, or the single 140mm exhaust out the back?

Single 140 on the back, been monitoring the card is only ticking over on desktop when it happens.
Not even had a chance to look at the clocks as its been like this from building it, black screened on me when typing this reply :(
Its going back ASAP, back to Nvidia I think.

dont think this will help but it helped me when i had problems with my pc crashing.

Loosen slightly the cooler/heatsink on the cpu. I did this and it sorted my pc crashing.

However.....i will be getting a PCS+ tmw and my system is similar to yours (except havea i5 4690k) will see if i get the dreaded black screen... i got it with my first card...a 280x but that was second hand..

Don't want to start messing with card, found a bios switch, switched to other setting and now testing again.

No flicker just went straight to black, no flicker on anything else in the pc.
Monitor is a Benq gl2450

Oh well back from 3 weeks at work and the black screen is still there, looks like RMA time
