I was browsing t'internet a little while earlier when my screen suddenly went black. I restarted my PC but I can't even see the boot screen now, its just black.

I have tried 3 other monitors that I know work with both HDMI and DisplayPort cables but I still get a black screen at boot.

My PC is approx 5 months old and was built by Overclockers so I've put a ticket in, but is there anything else I can try in the meantime? I have a Ryzen 7800X3D and an MSI Suprim X 4090. The RGB inside the computer lights up as normal, including the graphics card.

I have taken the graphics card out and plugged the HDMI cable into the motherboard, still no signal.

I am not very technical, so I assume I've done it correctly. I literally just took the 4090 out of the machine and plugged the HDMI cable into the top left port on the motherboard at the back of my PC (Strix B650-a). I assume it auto detects its connected to that port and I don't have to do anything else.

UPDATE: I noticed that there is a red light on the motherboard in the top right corner, I think it says CPU DRAM above it, its a tiny font! It starts off orange when I turn the PC on, then turns red after a short while. I did some googling and took out both sticks of RAM then put 1 stick back in the Number 2 slot and turned the PC back on. The light is still red. I've now put both back in as thats how it was to begin with.

ANOTHER UPDATE: I have just reset the CMOS and got the PC to boot, but it is telling me there is a CPU Fan speed detection error. I have a NZXT Kraken Z73, the 3 fans are working. I now can't get past the boot screen due to the error message.

Pretty sure you can turn off the error in bios. It'll be due to (maybe) zero rpm, so it maybe thinks the fan isn't working. I think I had this issue a long time ago, but if you're sure everything's working just turn off monitoring in bios for that fan

Okay, set it to Ignore and my PC works again!

I have the NZXT Cam app already installed so that will keep track of temps, but I'm wondering why after 5 months of use it suddenly happened. My PC was on for maybe 5 hrs this morning, I did nothing on it other than internet browsing and discord chatting. I haven't updated the BIOS recently and my last windows update was maybe a week or so ago.

The wonderful world of pc's. It can be a minefield. Best see what ocuk come back with.
Out of interest, is the light still on for dram? Also, have you set ram back to xmp profile? A CMOS clear would have reset that as well

No warning lights on the motherboard now.

Not turned EXPO back on, just sat watching my PC temps last night whilst I went about my usual business.

CPU Fan speed detection error
you sure its not your pump connected to cpu fan header?
arent the fans controlled by usb?
How do I test that?

I've never really watched my PC temps closely before but whilst idle it sits around 30 degrees and hopes around 40-60 when I open/close apps etc. I played a couple of games briefly and it peaked around mid 60s. Surely if the pump wasn't working the temps would have kept climbing?

yeah they would eventually get hot enough
to trigger thermal protection
its quite possible your pumps not connected to cpu header
could be any header on the motherboard
mines not on cpu one either
though on first set up i had to tell the bios to ignore monitoring
cpu header as expected
if nzxt cam doesnt show all the speeds/rpm of all motherboard headers
look in asus ai suite
should be able to see it there
can tell its the pump as should be too high a rpm to be a fan

This is what I'm looking at right now - just got the Cam app open and half a dozen tabs on the browser

looks ok
i am currently 33c on cpu
27c on gpu
25c on coolant
wont be same hardware so just a rough guide for idle temps
though i am not totally idle got a few things running
under heavy load temperatures are the important ones

I've turned EXPO back on and now have discord, steam and my browser open. Temps are currently 35-40 on CPU, 29 GPU, 21, Coolant. I'll play a game later for a few hours and see what happens...

Thanks for the help everyone :)
