Black trim

I used WD40 a a couple of days ago after seeing someone recommend it on here. Seems to have cleaned it up nicely and got rid of the white waxy residues left from the last wash/wax, Im waiting to see how long before it fades.

I used to use a blacking product, think it was a Turtle Wax one. Looked ok for a while, but still ended up fading.

I ended up using linseed oil.
I got the idea from anothjer forum and since my partner is an oil painter she had a bottle. So its free!

It did a great job too, i heard it will last a long time but ill be the judge of that ;)

Thanks for all the advice ive taken note and will try other stuff is the linseed oil doesnt last.

I'd use something like the AG to initially bring the plastic back from grey but then after that I'd use something along the lines of aerospace 303 protectant

On my old Black e38 BMW, I used STP "Son of a Gun"

I think gel like that is much better than the sprays.

Used to use the megs stuff but then I tried the chemical guys suff and it is the best I have found so far. If you buy from there get one of the foam applicators as they work really well with it.

Years ago a garage I worked for used old engine oil on the black bumper trims etc, that works well but doesn't last as long.

Blowtorch.

It'll bring out the natural oils in the plastic, and will last a lot, lot longer than any product that sits on top of the plastic.

Wave the blowtorch over it gently, ensuring you don't stay still, or get it too hot. Once you apply the heat, you'll see the result immediately, and will easily see when it's done.

Of course, do it at your own risk, test it on an inconspicuous piece first, as it doesn't work with all plastics, I accept no responsibility if you damage/set fire to anything etc ;)
