Covered all the lengths of wood with a strip in the middle. didn't use much at all. You'll see when you get it that its Very Strong holding and don't need much for a hold.

Yeah that's the stuff I used.

I would possibly go for the thicker 38mm stuff for yours as the weight of the dibond will be over double what mine was.

I would possibly go for 4 uprights, i think 5 is overkill.

Bought the wood yesterday. 4x 70mm x 18mm x 2400mm. Will do nicely for the frame

EDIT: One more question, i have left 5cm border around the sheet, i have bought 5cm border tape from here: http://www.projector-screen-material.co.uk/products/deepblack.html

now im thinking i should have got a bigger size so i can wrap it around the edges too? do you think i will be ok with not wrapping it around the edges? i suppose work case i would do 4cm border and use 1cm to wrap

I wrapped mine around the back, it finishes the sheet nicely. I would possibly go for a smaller border and wrap round if you can.

The sheet when cut (normally by guillotine the edges aren't the best)

Yes 15% of the total mix of water just to thin it down a bit for the sprayer.

You should find you'll not use about half of the mix if you've done the coats lightly enough.

Start spraying off screen and stop off screen so that you don't get build up as it'll take much longer to dry.

EDIT: ok, got the 1 piece of wood replaced and bought some 3x 16mm screws which fit flush into the holes of the L brackets now, all seems level and am happy

next to mount the projector!

I used 3x16 screws for mine glad you got it sorted. My wall i've hung the screen on isnt flat it was an old house chimeny breast which was way out so the middle of my screen hits the wall and either end stick out off the wall so the dibond and wood is doing its job at keeping it square as i know my wall isnt.

Have you mounted a projector before? if you're doing it before the screen then you shouldn't have too much trouble just make sure its dead on square otherwise you'll end up with an image that isn't square.

Its rather difficult to calculate it correctly. I used a laser to get mine square with the wall i was projecting on.

Planning to put a small piece of mdf between 2 ceiling joists then mount the projector on the mdf.

Will mount the projector then finish of the screen

As I need a max 25cm drop with projector fitted and although you can change tilt etc it's very fiddly and have to take projector off each time . Id rather have a mount i can tweak easily.

May Look at another mount. I've got vertical lens shift on my benq w1070 so in theory I can get a flush type mount and lens shift down

Any recommendations?

I used some wood between joists for mine.

Cheap mounts are a nightmare for adjustments. Mine has adjustment for tilt etc but its so vague being a cheap mount.

You can spend a lot of money on a decent mount with crank adjustment just depends how much you want to spend. What i ended up doing was put the PJ roughly where i wanted it and then mount the screen to meet the projected image as this is easier than adjusting the pj itself.

Right guys i've got a little treat for you. I've been messing round with my camera and came up with a comparison video between my projected image and that of my Macbook Pro Retina laptop which you should know is LED backlit IPS.

What type of laser device did you use to get the projector square on? Do you have a link? I take it you mean turn the projector left and right to get a square image?

Yeh I'm planning to mount the projector first then they my 120" marked out then mount the alu composite sheet to match the image on Wall

I wouldn't recommend buying a laser if you don't have one just for this project.

The issue i had was that my wall i was projecting onto wasn't square the the rear wall so i had to measure square from the off wall to the rear of the room which meant my projector is about 6 or 7cm off centre at the rear to get the image square.

What i did was calculate as best i could and then project the image onto the wall. make all the measurements of the image to ensure the image was the same height and width at either side of the image meaning it was square and then hung the screen there.

Shouldn't be too bad if you have a wider border than me but i did only have a few mm either way which is rather small trying to adjust a projector by that small amount on a cheap mount.

I got the projector up last night, I used the 2 string from each side of image to lens method, got the central line and put 2 Plumb lines up on the wall and adjusted the projector to match, the projector is level with spirit levels and turned out it was the sideways tilt that was slightly off, now I think I have a square image although interestingly the ceiling to top if image on the right is slightly lower than the left think the ceiling isn't straight, is there any other way I can confirm is square on?

So once I'm Happy with the image, is it a case if using the square test pattern to outline the definitive viewable screen size on the wall and mount the screen (still need to stick this to the wood and paint!) taking into account the 5cm border I have?

any tips on this part? I know where the studs are in the wall.

I went into b and q yesterday to enquire about the steel grey 2 paint. They said they don't do it or mix it. And I'd have to it go dulux to get it.

Is that correct?

Yes you would normally find its out with the ceiling i know mine was but the image is square so thats where it stays.

Try and use either test pattern or a source image, one of my test patterns doesn't actually fill the viewing area. the coloured ones don't but the grid does so make sure you test with both a test image and also a source image to make sure its the same.

I just used some screws into the stud and rested the frame on those. others have screwed wood to the studs and rested the frame on the wood. Up do you how you want to mount it.

I got mine from homebase as they still do dulux mixing, B&Q now don't offer dulux as they're doing Valspar.

Ste, sorry another question. What size screws did you to hang the screen to the wall? How many screws?

I used 75mm drywall screws sticking out the wall 18mm to rest my frame on. used 4, 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom.

issue im having now is uneven focus on the screen, left can be in focus but right is out of focus, centre in focus but left and right out, this is on the test grid, cant tell much when watching films, is this normal?

its a Benq W1070

Looks good, makes me wish i had a bigger area to get a bigger image from my projector. i'll have to stick with my 87 inches.

Try something like a PC input with text or a sharpness test to see if the same issue appears then to rule out the projector test pattern.

The only way that would happen is if the middle of the screen is focused and the sides are either further away or closer to the projector than the centre.

If you have a straight edge or level long enough see if that is the case.

Otherwise it might be a projector issue.

Painted the wall behind my projector screen a darker colour to give a bit more pop from the light colour that was there before.

Been making a mask to get 2.35:1 image's looking their best.

Got i-bond sheet cut to size, got some aluminum U profile to hook the mask on top of the current screen.
I'm still waiting on more DeepBlack tape from PSM to wrap this with to remove any reflection of light from the projector which will improve the image pop and contrast when watching scope movies on the screen.

Attached it with Tessa double sided tape. and hung to check it hang's level which it does.

DeepBlack arrived today.

This is what we're being sold as DeepBlack. I've tried a google and can't find any reference to it so I assume it's from a distributor or small shop not online.

I could only get hold of 650mm x 5m length so i but off my small section.

Sticking the tape onto the i-bond using a smooth applicator.

Folded round the back and covered the U profile alumium to reduce the possibility of scratching.

Now in place.

Test image all blue 16:9 to show how much light it absorbs.
