Hi

Is anyone bothered about how Blackburn beat Newcastle at football this weekend ? If not then goto to end.

I think the "scorer" Pederson and Blackburn should be fined heavily for barefaced cheating and the points awarded to Newcastle and then Blackburn docked 3 points. Unless we start doing something like that the game is going to suffer.

The poor old refs get it in the neck for not spotting things like this but it was so clear on the telly.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Souness - he's not a quality manager but no one deserves that. I'm also not against Blackburn but I hate cheats.

Any views ?

Since im a newcastle fun im a bit biased :p. But i was at the match and saw the goal, and to be honest didn't realise it was a hand ball until i seen it on TV. Nothing will be done because the argument would be that anything could have happened in the match after a goal went in, ie they could have scored again.

Btw - Souness Out! :D

The goal looked legit until we got a slo-mo. Nothing you can really do about it. There's been far more blatant handballs missed (Terry's a brilliant 'keeper isn't he?) so it's how it goes really.

the best thing to do in this situation is to blame the referee, otherwise you get a million opposition fans who come on and mention all the stuff your club got :p

I was at the game as well and didn't notice it was handball. We'll get a decision or two go our way as well over the course of the season, nothing needs to change.

I also stayed at the ground for half an hour with another thousand or two fans calling for Souness to go. He had the nerve to say in the post match interview that his players were giving everything they had. If that's the case they want selling as their work rate today was poor, and if that's all they've got they're abysmal. It's been a while since I've been to a game but you can't truely appreciate how lazy most of the Newcastle team are without going to a game and getting the big picture. It was shameful.

It cost £93 for 2 adults and a child at the very top of the Milburn stand. At half time they played Money For Nothing by Dire Straits and I Predict A Riot by Kaiser Chiefs. At least the guy picking the music had a sense of humour about the entire thing. I don't. :(

should be given to Toon for blackburn having no fans
*cough*

I know I am biased, but docking points, and even heavily fining the club/Pederson would be a bit harsh. It's hardly like Blackburn are the first and only club to ever have a bad decision go their way. In fact we tend to get decisions go against us simply by reputation (eg in the Man Utd game, when Smith fouled Savage, should have been sent off btw, and Savage was shown a yellow card - when his only obvious involvement was getting fouled  ).

Besides if Blackburn get docked 3 points for Pederson's infringement, then Newcastle should be booted out of the league for Bowyer's indiscretions  :p

That goal should be disallowed... using video footage... it was obveouse cheating!!!!
But where do you stop?? Do you think the FA should review every single game, looking for obveouse (sic) cheating, then publish the results of the games, say a day later?? Hardly makes for a very fan-friendly game.

Even if in-game video refereeing had been used in that game, I very much doubt that it would have been utilised, as nobody protested at the time, even Souness.

As for blaming the ref, I think that is uncalled for in this situation, as it is fair enough that he didn't see it, and there have been far worse refereeing indiscretions this weekend

Hi everyone

Firstly my apologies for posting to the wrong place.

Glad it stimulated a bit of discussion. I was a just a bit dissapointed that Pederson just went on his celebrations even though he knew. Even the Blackburn player who first met the ball did it with his upper arm !!!!

Still I think most people agree that Mr Souness is not cutting it. Bring back Keegan I say. At least when he was in charge they finished second and as a neutral I always wanted to watch them.

Cheers

Yes it was handball but these things happen in football, you've just got to get over it and get Souness sacked ASAP! :p

Mmm he had Rooney in a headlock...?!

It appears that Pedersen lined up for the volley and missed it, meaning his hands are in that position for balance. It's not clear if the contact with his hand comes from the failed volley or cheating. Even things that are "blatant" are never as black and white as some people might like you to think!

Hehehehehe, I take it you're not a Geordie then?

He punched it in. It was blatantly cheating.
