Hey guys,

Curious to know what other people think of these,

I'm planning on getting the RS7 with the FastenR-3 buckle for my D5000.

Mostly it'll just be for walkabout shooting and a few events, having read the reviews it does seem a very good strap and i like the method behind leaving it hanging around your waist to bringing it up for some clicky action.

Just wondered if anyone has any better suggestions or horror stories?

Got the double one (2 RS7s joined together between your shoulder blades). Used it a a wedding and a lot of walk about portrait shoots. Makes having 2 cameras a joy.

Seriously one of the best accessories I have bought.

One of the photographers at work (photojournalist) uses the double shoulder one (D3S user, he's got two of them). He has the 70-200 on one body and the 17-35 on the other. No horror stories with the strap, but he's a bit miffed at his D4 being delayed.

I got an RS7 (free from a youtube competition :D). I really like the strap, prefer it to the original 90% of the time. The only time I find it a bit awkward is when I carry both my bag and the camera (criss cross straps) and then want to take off my bag as I have to take the camera off first but that is only a very small bad point among many benefits the strap brings :)

Oh, and also it can be a bit annoying if you are planning on switching to and from a tripod regularly on a shoot as you have to keep unscrewing it / screwing it back in but I have seen you can actually buy tripod plates for the strap so that would probably fix the problem.

I built my own after looking for local retailers and manufacturers, cost me a whopping £5.

I'll be making another later this year that is easier to use and more comfortable to wear :)

I will never by another cheapo one of these again after having the connectors on two q straps fail fortunately neither resulted in a camera hitting the deck through pure luck.

Think twice before suspending 100's of pounds worth of gear from a cheapo strap!

I have the Q-Strap but haven't really used it much, but it is nice to use.

What body/lens were you using?

I don't have any heavy lenses (heaviest is the 30mm) so body and lens only weighs 1kg for me at the most! Hence the reason I got a cheap strap.

But yeah, if I was using anything much heavier, I would invest in a better made strap.

I've got a D7000 and will probably be getting a Nikon 16-85 in the next week or so.

What would people recommend for a decent strap then that doesn't cost the earth?

I rather randomly bought an RS5 when I had some cash left over one month. It's quite good, but I still find it odd having the camera hanging by my side. So much so, I actually used the camera at two gigs without a strap at all.

Got a Q-Strap for xmas its VERY nice compared to the bog standard canon strap ive had on since 2006! Downside is i have to take it off when using tripod. Can't see it being handy when needing a tripod in a church mind weddings

I used one for wedding working for the past few years and it's been amazing. I had a second camera just on a normal strap and the setup working really well, although a double BlackRapid setup would have been better obviously.

Go for it, they're brilliant.

I have an RS-7 and the fastener, so that I can keep my Manfrotto quick release plate permanently attached to the body.

I really like it, much better than having a camera hanging around your neck!

I have the Q-Strap and because the plate is L-shaped, I can have attached the quick release plate to the bottom of the Q-Strap plate and I don't even need to unfasten the strap! Not the most stable but I don't have any heavy lenses so it's fine!

I thought of doing this:

But I hardly use my tripod so I decided to keep my £30 or so!

When ScarySquirrel bought his it was quite expensive so he had to pay for it by giving back ally handjobs.

^^ lol?

They are good I got one a few months ago, but in the UK they are ridiculously overpriced. Still for a camera accessory I guess its pretty small change.
