I would always buy the top card under the old sort of ethos, but I haven't bought the top end Nvidia card in years now. You definitely can be put off by crazy pricing, and vote with your wallet.

It is interesting as I seen a lot of enthusiasts on here were also buying up 4090's as they were the best value. Many either sold them after as they realised they did not use/need the performance or still have yet to push them as they tend to not play AAA titles. So you may not see as many go for this gens best value, just ones migrating from 4090 > 5090 which should be a smaller %.

It could all kick off with people going mad on LLM local setups and renting compute and the market will price it bananas again.

You're providing a much needed service to the community, I salute you. The world needs more cardlords like yourself.

Other people may moan, but have they tried living at home with their parents for a few years to save up and buy perhaps a small 70 series to get on the ladder? I suspect not.

Anyone that doesn’t save every penny towards a card (at the cost of giving up all slivers of enjoyment in their life) simply isn’t trying hard enough and can’t complain if they don’t own one.

Cards were cheaper back in the day, but also people are paid more now and interest rates are lower. So, yeah, younger generation is just lazy.

ASUS should have called it ASTRONOMICAL because that is what they and Nvidia usually price their stuff as.

asus is the new dictionary definition for overpriced
its the last resort option, when all other skus have been sold out
also, asus and gigabyte currently are the only integrators who have a fully automated assembly line for gpus, and they dont heat pcbs, maybe if thats the kind of thing that appeals to you

Back in my day I had to SLI two GPUs to get some extra fps and put up with constant flickering and stuttering. It was tough but I managed.

If only young PC gamers these days would stop wasting their cash on battlepasses, silly skins and twitchtv subscriptions they could easily get on the GPU ladder.

Clockwork guerilla mindshare manipulation. Two weeks ago £2000, last week £2300, this week £2600. We'll likely see one more "leak" with a higher price before breaching credulity. We've seen this a dozen times before.

Then on launch day, nV announces a (moderately) lower MSRP/RRP to the ebulliant masses who are ok with a £2000 discrectionary video game toy.
