Blackwell gpus

What I don't understand is why Nvidia got rid of SLI when apparently the more you buy the more you save. Some people here, not mentioning any times, would buy 4 GPUs if they could SLI it

Sometimes makes me wonder if they are working on a solution to that. Maybe there’s a technology that could supersede SLI which by all accounts is a pretty old tech. The problem was always that they required specific driver support, but what if there was an alternate solution…AI has to be good for something doesn’t it?! :D

I used to love the aesthetics of SLI/Croasfire.

I still have loads of matched pairs of cards going way back to the 6000 series where it all began.

Second hand prices probably will drop to close £1k though. We have seen that happen everytime with previous flagship nvidia gpus

3070 came out - 2080ti were going for £500 or less on here
4070ti came out - 3090 were going for <£900/800 on here

If 5070/5080 offers 4090 level perf for £1000+, expect 4090 second hand to drop, no one in their right mind would pay the premium for an old 4090 when you could get a new shiny 5070/5080 for around £1k.
I think your forgetting that the 4090 will still have 24gb vram which makes it much more useful for AI workloads.
All of this just looks creepily dystopian.

It also hints at why this is such a huge buzz among investors right now, they don't need to pay you if they can program some creepy AI pretending to have a human personality to do your job.
It all sounds good on paper but when people ain't getting paid who will buy the goods and services these companies expect to sell.

A little bird tells me Over clockers are not getting any more 4090s in stock so the 5090 must be coming fairly soon.
surely not out till late October-November timeframe?

I have a feeling this is going to be very expensive, Nvidia could not care if any gamers buy them. They would rather sell them to AI industry instead, Tell me £2000 or £40000? But I was under the impression what they sell us gamers are the cores that cannot be used for AI based stuff because they are imperfect chips from manufacturing hence they get relegated to gaming industry.

Eventually competition will catch up with NVIDIA, AMD and Intel will come up with competing product and AI craze will die down, might take 10 years in the mean time everyone buy lots of LUBE. :D

Judging by todays stock price, they will more than likely charge whatever they want. I reckon 2k isn't far off what they will land on or maybe closer to 1800 for the FE and 2k for AIB cards. The AI buzzword really created some traction at Computex and everyones buying in, the tiddie signing probably helped too :D.

actually i wont be surprised if nvidia stops sending review samples.. youtube might get spicier for a while though

I'm sure AIB's will continue that trend with review samples.

If FE models don't get sent out though, who's going to create all the hype for them?

You can't keep throwing AI buzzwords at gamers if they literally mean nothing.
