Ok folks, We're here now, November 2019. I have just a couple of questions? Where are all the custom designed genetically engineered humanoid replicants & flying cars? :p ;)

Seriously though, If you are a BR fan & you've watched it more times than you eaten a hot dinner, dig your copy out of mothball & watch it as we are now in the month that it was set.

I know I will :D I'm a bit sad though from next month it will be set in the past. I did work out what age I would be when we got here & now I feel rather old. :(

I watched both a couple of months ago, never get fed up of the original and the new one isn't bad either.

Which version, though.....?

I have a soft spot for the original Theatrical version which I used to own on VHS & DVD, though I own the Final cut version on blu-ray. I made the mistake of selling the 5 disc box set when my sister bought it for me for Xmas many moons ago.

As 80s children, I think we all dreamt about flying cars happening at some point in the 21st century. The nearest we've got so far are the large drones that can carry 1 person. Still very much at prototype stage.

Driverless cars have reached an interesting stage though, being tested with the general public in a handful of cities around the world.

I've got the 5 disk briefcase version somewhere. It's a very silly thing.

Totally overrated film. It bombed at the box office for all the right reasons, boring, artsy and forgettable characters.

Hardly any effort put into it. Just look at those drab sets.

Scott went downhill after Alien.

Important for ‘futuristic noir’ and one of the most memorable early ‘dystopian futures / ****holes’ but otherwise overrated IMO. It’s just not that entertaining.

/\/\/\ a bit harsh considering your sig ;) :p

Getting it all in before the usual crew come in to trash basically the finest sci-fi film ever crafted. It's not the best story or the best acting, but the world created along with atmosphere and tone of a believable future society is what makes it so great - it's then influenced so many since and the world of sci-fi cinema has a lot to thank BR and Ridley Scott/Hampton Fancher/David Peoples for that as well as P.K.Dick of course.

I was born after it's release, and I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen it. I dismissed it when I first saw it, and I can't even remember when that was it barely made a mark on me, but then I saw a documentary on it and revisited it and realised I actually love it. Just the hint of the Vangelis soundtrack sends tingles down my spine as I can recall the entire story and recall the "what does it mean to be human" riff that plays throughout it; it still bothers me that it doesn't matter whether Deckard is a replicant or not.
