blank screen

hi,

my friends computer recently has been having problem, such that it turns on, but the screen stays blank. ive tried playing around with it, and checked on another pc that the ram works, and the cu works. i couldnt try out his gpu as its too damn big!! however i tried my gpu in his pc but to no avail. the motherboard is an abit an8 fatal1ty and on that lil number thing is stays at 9.0 when turned on. any ideas?
