I been using Kill Disk booting off a CD which works but it takes some time. It's handy when selling a HD on 2nd hand or a customers machine to clear it of any history.

However i need something that will just blast a Windows 7 install off in a matter of seconds or even few mins.

The HD is within the PC and it has preinstall of W7.

Idealy something USB or even CD and thats automatic perhaps. Just boot from the device away it goes.

You could try installing Windows 7 from a USB flash drive (minimum size of 4GB) I hear that installing from them is pretty damn fast though I have never done it. You can create a USB version of Windows 7 yourself since Microsoft have a utility that sets it up for you.

Got that already and with a USB 3 stick it's very fast, my W7 USB3 to SSD install takes about 5 min @ 4.6GHZ!

However i need something thats going to blank the HD

Low level formatting like that takes time, have a search for DBAN aka Darik's Boot & Nuke I believe it is free to use (open source), WipeDrive Pro is another option which I have used before and is pretty good.

You could always use diskpart in the command prompt, select the disk you wish to blank then use the command "clean all" it can take a little while depending on the size of the disk but always worked fine for me

Need to be something that can be booted from an auto really, just delets everything. No need to go super hard core and wipe it all out.

this would be a good idea if you were going to INSTALL an os to the HDD, which is not what this thread is about ;) :p
