Blindingly obvious choice... But a problem

Obviously the PS4 is the way to go, I've been an Xbox man since the start and I would probably still be a Xbox man but the hardware lacking in the new one is shocking for the price :(

Thus, the PS4 is the obvious choice. However, I hate the PS controller... The layout is just nasty to me.

What are the chances of getting a Xbox similar controller for the PS4?

My main gripe with the Sony consoles is the controllers too.

I did buy a third party one for my PS3, it's better than the dual shock but still pretty crap :(

Wait until you can try the new DS4. lots of xbox fans are saying they find it a huge improvement and dint have any trouble in switching between the xbox1 and ds4 controller

It's an improvement certainly but if you don't like the stick positioning then that's still likely to be a problem. As a 360 fan I'd still say the DS4 isn't as good as the 360 controller.

I seem to remember someone on the net basically transplanted the gubbin's from a PS3 controller into a 360 controller shell for exactly this reason. I think it was legit, its probably on google.

Maybe DS4 into a XB1 controller will be possible.

Sounds like if your issue is with the stick location as in both symmetrical then the DS4 wont help you out, everything else sounds like a large improvement. If you haven't pre-ordered by now you prob wont be able to get one for launch so can try it out for yourself before making that decision.

Have you used one yet? From what I've been told the fatter base of the pad changes the positioning of your hands in comparison to how it was on DS3. Hands are closer to a flat position. Which means the old cramping position of the thumb sticks isn't an issue now. That's only from a 30 minute demo play, but general consensus seems to be a more comforable overall pad.

From what I've heard the X1 controller is pretty terrible (or at least a step back from the 360 controller) and the DS4 is three steps ahead of the DS3. Honestly, I'd get a PS4. You'll get used to the controller eventually anyway and if a console can't even play CoD at 1080p natively, I'd stay well away until the console proves itself otherwise.

Of course I have, I wouldn't compare it from a photo :p

It's more comfortable to hold definitely and the triggers are much better.

Whatever the issue is with the DS3 it isnt with the symmetrical sticks but how the grips make you hold it, thats been fixed with the DS4 so really it seems silly to let your preconceptions get the better of you until youve tried the controller itself. The whole symmetrical/asymmetrical concern is actually nothing really to do with it, but because its the most obvious difference its the one most jsut tend to cling on to...

GAME have had lock-ins so perhaps there might be one near you for you to try?

EDIT: Theres so much information on the internet about normal gamers actual DS4 playtests and the DS4 is already out in the US to purchase now too - its just pure laziness not to use such resources to qualify your issue...

ps3ud0

i'd wait until you get the DS4 into your hands.

From all accounts its been vastly improved and has way better triggers, grips and concave thumb sticks. As said, just google, there are loads of youtubes videos on the controller.

I myself have used a 360 pad on my PC for some time, I know you are a big PC gamer, so you'll have the same issues I have is that going from the 360 controller to the PS controller you can tell its short comings and also you've been playing xbox so I can see your issues.

but like I say, from all accounts the DS4 is a huge improvement.

There will be third party controller that will be similar to the xbox layout.

However, if you have not used the new PS4 controller don't base your opinion on the PS3 controller. The PS4 controller is much better in every way. Obviously the layout isn't the same but everything falls nicely into place when you use it, the sticks are feel like they have just the right resistance and your fingers fall nicely on the trigger buttons (something that didn't happen with the PS3 pad).

I was unsure about it until I tried it but immediately loved it :)
