Blisters from boots.

I have a problem that every game I get pretty bad blisters. I call them blisters, but it's where the skin gets sweaty and soft and turns over a bit when I push hard to stop. (to be clear it's happened before so it's not the boots)

I've tried to let them dry and callous over to toughen the skin but it doesn't work, just hurts more.

After this weekend I'm gona have to strap them up with bandages to make training.
Anyone got any magical solutions to solve this?

I can't be the only one.

Compeed

I use them in spots I know will rub, mainly in walking boots but don’t see why they wouldn’t work in football boots

I guess the reason I wouldn't use those, (I never have so may be wrong) is that the sticker bit would have to be pretty damn strong as I'm stopping and turning.

Are they better than something like a plaster?

Much better, they stick almost like glue. I’d be very surprised if they came off.

What socks are you wearing?

Try trusox, they’ve shot up in price in recent times due to the high profile players all wearing them and I guess they’ve marketed it on social media.

I have never had any problems with compeed moving around, even when wet. They're referred to as a 'second skin'. You could try Leukotape (p) to help hold everything in place.

My dad told me that in his army days they used to soak the soles of their feet in urine to thicken/harden the skin. If you don't fancy that you could try hydrogen peroxide as that'll do the same thing.

Merino wool sock liners might help as they wick away moisture.

This is advice coming from a hiker/long distance walker rather than a football player, though.

Gotta get rid of the heat, moisture, or friction.

Friction is a no go cause you have to move but you can do something about the moisture and heat. I don't know about football boots as I only experience this when running cross country, but get something that's well ventilated and if they do such a thing, get them fitted by a professional. Socks with some mesh areas for ventilation and wicking too, something decent with support too. Don't skimp on the socks either, it took me a few attempts to find a brand that didn't cause rubbing, I went with More Mile and I've been using their socks for years.

If you have really sweaty feet and none of the above help, look into something like antiperspirants for feet or sweat absorbing powders.

I don't wear anything other than my football socks. I always assumed more socks = more sweat.
Have you ever been properly fitted for boots?
Never
Two pairs of socks? Padded running socks under normal football socks has worked for me.
So blister socks work. I'd tried to avoid more sock as I was always worried that I'd end up with even sweatier feet that couldn't breath. I didn't want less air getting to them.

You want to take the dry calloused skin off, not grow more of it. I use an electric foot file thing every now and then to take the excess skin off and keep good healthy fresh skin on my feet which doesn't slip and tear into blisters when you're turning sharply in studs.
