Blitz Cleaning

Hi all,

Total newbie here, i've had my custom rig now for a couple of years and think its time the fluid was replaced and the system cleaned. I'm not 100% confident in taking a £7k pc apart so was going to use the Blitz 2 part system to give it a clean. I keep hearing the occasional squeak from the PC like the fluid being restricted so think its time for a clean.

My question is, when I add Part 1 into the system, can i continue to use it as normal, and then when its been cleaned out totally with distilled water, and part 2 added can i continue to use it (not heavy or gaming use) until its time to drain again and full with new actual coolant.

Sorry it ifs a stupid question.

Hi, so part 1 is for cleaning radiators only - you have to disassemble your loop and fill just the rads then leave for a while. AFAIK it's acidic so you don't want it in your other loop components for any amount of time really.

I would expect it's safe to use the PC while Part 2 is running, i would check the instructions for any information on temperature. Unless it's restricted to low temperatures (sub-40° say), I'd think it's fine to use the PC.

That said, if you think flow is being restricted I would be inclined to strip the loop and investigate. Usually deposits in blocks come from soft tubing leeching plasticiser but you never know. It's worth a look, though the liquid doesn't look too bad.

To echo the previous poster, part 1 is highly acidic and should only be used on radiators that have been removed from the system, whilst wearing gloves and eye protection.

Part 2 is an alkaline solution that neutralises the remaining part 1 (after it has been drained) in the radiators. It can also be used in your full loop to give it a quick clean, but it will not give it a deep clean, such as removing all the gunk from the microfins in the blocks and pump.

Furthermore, part 1 is only for new radiators to strip out any cruft left over from the manufacturing process. It's useful for 2nd hand rads if you don't know what life they've had, but unless you see any rubbish or staining built up in your blocks I'd say there was no need to use part 1 at all.

Don't use part 1 in your loop, drain it, run with distilled and part 2 for a few hours, drain and run with distilled, drain and fill with whatever fluid your going for next.
