Blizzard MMO in the making for next-gen consoles?

I love the way people think that just because WOW has loads of shortcuts for all the abilities, a console MMORPG would have to. So a MMORPG must have a keyboard otherwise it isn't a MMORPG? Come on.

People are expecting WOW to be taken as is and put on a 360 (or whatever). If it is a new game, they can design around it, do things slightly differently etc.

I don't see why a game such as WOW could not be made on a console?, even if it needed a keyboard, surely a game like that could be made to support a USB keyboard on either console? More so the 360 as they seem to be against letting keyboards be used in games, while Sony seem fine with it.

Could even bundle a keyboard with a special edition of the game for those who really don't have one :)

Forget that, would have like a £69.99 price tag [plus the no-doubt monthly fees :p] like Guitar Hero. One of the reasons I don't own it yet.. way too expensive imo I can buy like 3~ games with that much.

People seem to forget that an MMO doesn't need to be an RPG, it doesn't need to have levels, or skills, or raids or complex control systems - it just needs Massively Multi-player and Online.

Creating a game that supports thousands of players in one game world is acheiveable on the 360 and PS3, so Blizzard developing for one or both of these systems seems plausable to me.

Yeah, remember Planetside? I played that for about a 18 months, it is a MMOFPS and was not that different from a regular FPS and could have worked easily on the consoles as the control set was minimal but the game was great. Massive battles between 3 factions using many different vehicles and weapons to gain control of bases over a continent.

My one concern about bringing a MMO to a console though is that the user base moves with the lifetime of the console, with PC's this doesn't happen. I'm not saying this would cause them to fail but it is an additional factor to consider when developing, this may cause the MMO to evolve with console generations which isn't really a bad thing.
