Blizzard need to sort their atitude out.

Because an enormous number of people visit it.

That's no excuse. There are thousands of other sites that get more traffic than Blizzard's, yet they don't slow to a crawl every day.

It's very simple. Invest in better hosting, and better hardware. It's not like they don't have the funds to do so.

WoW is Blizzards first MMORPG.
Blizzard's games are extreemly popular.

Now, ATM, WoW is the fastest growing MMORPG on the market.
So expect some problems with servers.

Oh yea, each realm probably isnt just one computer. So think about how many realms there are and how many computers there must be powering them. . .

Some people I know have trouble looking after just one computer, just imagine the trouble that the blizzard employees are having keeping these servers running.

Couple this with irate customers who like to rant and rave at every small problem, you can start to see that Blizzard are not having an easy time of this.

BTW, I play on the Aszune server. That was down all last night. I hope that whatever the problem is with the server, is fixed now. . .

Just imagine how much extra funding Blizzard has over the people you know. They should be able to afford the best hardware, and best support personnel in the world. So why haven't they invested in such? It really isn't that hard to keep application servers up and running, provided they've been designed and are being supported with the current load in mind.

You call not being able to get onto the account maintenance for days and servers being rebooted across the board with no warning a "small problem"?

Couldnt have said that better myself m8. Totally agree with you.

Personally i dont take the game seriously enough to complain.

ive got 40days play time on my main character since last year.. thats a lot of time. in comparison to the down time ive experienced im very pleased.

I had a problem with an item once. when i was master looting i rolled on an item that i didnt realise was unique (painweaver band.. thought i could have two).. i won the roll but couldnt equip.. so i tried giving it to next in line on roll.. yet it wouldnt go to him and got stuck in loot. I contacted a gm and explained and they sent a painweaver band in mail to the guy next in line. Good service i thought!

last night we got a 15min warning (which i admittedly think is far too short) before the server went down. We were right infront of magister kalendris (who i needed loot from) before the server went down. Nightmare.

The game is fantastic and i keep going back to it. quitting due to this seems a bit ott for me personally.

when its down find something else to do.. go out maybe

I've played MMORPGS for years now and never really got bothered by downtime and the occasional bit of lag. Dragonblight has become almost unplayable over the last week though. We had loads of wipes on trash mobs in MC because of constant lag spikes on Sunday. Last night was supposed to be Onyxia, we wiped and no one could release, we were all stood in her lair, dead, unable to log off or quit the game. Few seconds later and the server is down, 4 hours later still down and not 1 bit of news anywhere to be found.

The only other time i've experienced problems like this was in Horizons, i can't believe a game of WoW's size with the huge amount of revenue generated can't sort out some problems that have started since the introduction of the honour system. Admittedly things are a lot worse now than they were then though. Something needs to be done as the service is pathetic at the moment.

I gave up on WoW because i just got fed up of queues, disconnects and overopulation on the server, i have a good rig and in highly populated areas i was getting about 1fps. I know its because theres so many people online, but blizzard never closed it off to let it settle, just allowed people to keep signing up to it.

I moved onto City of Heroes, which coincidently has never chucked me out or had any significant downtime that affects gameplay.

I'm now on Guild Wars, which is even better, an absolutely amazing feat considering there are no monthly fee's. NCSoft really know how to run a good MMO, Blizzard should take a few lessons off them before they cash in their next $1million or so worth of monthly subs.

Guild wars is rubbish. At least in WOW you can run around freely attacking anything you like. Invisible walls are so annoying.

When there are queues why not play a few games of CSS. It doesnt effect your ping rating and you can do something fun while you wait to get in. :D

Personally i think that GW is more intelligent than WoW but thats my own opinion, the invisible walls don't detract from the game one bit.

However in the context of the thread my point is still valid, NCSoft are the kings of the MMO, i can't remember the last time one of their games has any downtime like whats being described above, Blizzard should take notes.

And queues.....not in a million years, yes they have less players, but GW has no monthly subs and no $1 billion a year income so its all proportional.

now onto guild wars myself

its a fantastic game when you compare it WoW and the fact they dont have monthly fee's and make far more money than people who do guild wars

The service and changes with classes blizzard give are just terrible. the thing that pushed me to finally leave is the fact they treat the level 60 players like turd (the expansion pack coming is hardly changing that, just adding a few tiny bits to do that will be done in a week)

You obviously haven't been playing for very long if you don't understand that the servers will be unstable right after a major patch. There are only so many faults that can be picked up on a test realm (even less when all the "testers" do is stand outside cities dueling), and so there are always problems when so many new features are added at the same time. No amount of small-scale testing will find a lot of these.
I think you're just spitting your dummy out, to be honest. Blizzard support are actually excellent at replying to any real problems and fixing them as quickly as they can. For the record, I have had no problems logging in today.

If you pay for the service monthly, they had better be on top of it. You're only spitting your dummy out if its a free service, a la steam.

Exactly. Its a subscription. If there were standards in place Blizzard would no doubt fall foul of most of them. I remember the DC got on watchdog for similar issues on their free service lol and hardly anyone even used that.

People on my server now call it Broken Blade as its laggy 24/7. People frequently log in and out because they get lag problems. Its irritating when you are in a group and you know everyone will log in and out at least once because of server issues.
