As the leaked Blizzard product slate states, Titan was originally expected to be launched in the last quarter of this year. Goes without saying that this looks highly unlikely. I thought we could do with a thread to cumulate all the rumours/speculation and early information about the game, so post anything related in here!

I've been a massive Blizzard fan since the original Diablo days. Went on to play Diablo II, D2:LOD, StarCraft, and World of Warcraft.

What is Titan? All we know about it right now for sure is that it's being developed by Blizzard, and we've been told on occasion that the game is not a new installment of one of Blizzard's existing franchises.

Hopefully we'll get some more information soon and with a Blizzcon on the cards for this year I'd be very disappointed if it isn't completely unveiled to the masses there.

Any fellow Titan anticipators out there? Let's turn this into a Megathread of information and speculation!

The only company to 'beat' WoW is themselves, but hey, this could be a flop for all we know but I doubt it because hasn't the original team who made WoW working on Titan?

I'd like to see what Blizzard comes up with to be honest. They have made some cracking games. But as for what they are making god knows. I remember reading a rumour that it was going to be a MMO FPS. But well that was pure speculation.

That said, I personally was quite disappointed by Diablo 3. I've played WoW since vanilla but I'm no longer a subscriber anymore as I lost interest towards the end of Cata.

I'm looking forward to the new Starcraft expansion though as I think they did a fantastic job on SC2 so Heart of the Swarm should be really good.

But it seems Blizzard are going towards a more "serious" nature of games (not sure if that makes sense to all) But I mean like ultra realistic approach. When in a way I would love them to go back to making just fun games like The Lost Vikings. Heck even Warcraft/World of Warcraft franchise is cartoony and has good humour and stories to it.

Titan though... meh I’ll be interested to see what they come out with. But Blizzard do like to hold all the cards until they decide it’s time to deal.

Edit:
Also who even knows if they are still developing this "Titan" game. Remember Starcraft: Ghost which got axed. Could happen again :p

Yeah, I'd heard this too.

@Adsta: It sounds like I'm in exactly the same situation as yourself. I've also been a Warcraft active raider for some time and recently cancelled my subscription. It's true what you say about Blizzard, they do make some great games and the speculation around an MMOFPS seems 'interesting' at best. I wonder how they'd pull it off.

Really cannot wait to see what the come up with. I'm keeping the faith for the time being in the hope that it'll be on another level of epic winage!

Blizzard is the only house who will beat-out WoW in the MMO market. Lots have tried, all have failed in some degree or another.

I have heard nothing new. The old info being that it is an MMO and all new IP.

Also from wiki :)

Highlighted a couple of lines :p

Titan is the project name for a massively multiplayer online game (MMO) being developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Speculation regarding the game began in 2007. The company has revealed little information about the game besides that it is completely new and that the developers achieved a playable version in 2011.

Development In 2007, users on a Blizzard Internet forum speculated that the game was in development after the company published job listings for character and environment artists to work on a "Next-Gen MMO" that was "Top Secret." A Blizzard community representative confirmed that the postings were for an unannounced game that was not an expansion for World of Warcraft.

Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, Blizzard COO Paul Sams, and Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime all verified that it was a new game in 2008. A confidential project schedule was released without the company's consent in November 2010. It showed a project titled "Titan" with a release date in the fourth quarter of 2013. Blizzard China's general manager either resigned or was terminated after the leak.

At the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards, Blizzard co-founder Frank Pearce told gaming blog Destructoid that the studio had begun talking about the title as a recruitment tool.

Morhaime spoke of the game in broad terms during a panel discussion at the 2011 D.I.C.E. Summit. He said that the company had its most experienced MMO developers working on the project. He explained that they were using lessons from the years of working on World of Warcraft, and he also emphasized the significance of players gaming with people they know as opposed to strangers. Morhaime believes that World of Warcraft and Titan, upon its release, will be able to co-exist on the market. He had made a similar statement in 2008 when he told Wired magazine that the game would be so different that it would not compete.

In an interview with Gamasutra in March 2011, Sams, revealed that the game was playable and laid out a vision for the project to "still be growing strong" in 10, 15 or 20 years, having "set a new mark in the industry." By September 2012, development had grown from small teams focusing on concepts to a team of over 100 people and Blizzard vice president of game design Rob Pardo said that the game was "in the middle of development", noting that it was a "very big project that's got a long ways to go".

Won't be getting it if it's a paid subscription service game. Done with that model, though Blizzard/Activ$ion will probably know they can get away with it. Hope it's a standalone game and no additional costs required.

I hope not.

Sub based MMOs are the best. F2P and single purchase ones are hugely compromised by the real money for game currency/items systems they employ.

I have never played a F2P more than a few weeks at most before deciding it was naff.

They've made mountains and mountains of money from WoW's subscription model, can't seem them changing it.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Titan wasn't scheduled for release until about 2015. Can't say I've kept up to date with news posted about it though.

Definitely looks like a more realistic date than their original estimation in that slate. It would also tie in nicely with a Blizzcon announcement in Q3 of this year.

I read somewhere this will have some kind of in game advertising as a way to fund the game/make money? If that is the case i think it will be f2p, but again its just rumors i think.

I have no problem with in-game advertising if it is PROPERLY integrated into the world in a format that matches it.

For example - Titan is a sci-fi futuristic title and in-game ad placement is where you would expect adverts (Billboards, posters, car decals etc) and futuristically designed.

Certainly there was a big recruitment drive a while back for sci-fi oriented graphics designers around the time that the WoW development team was supposedly moving onto the Titan project.

The MMO realm needs a properly built Sci-Fi MMO that is for sure.

As much was I wish it was World of Starcraft it is supposedly new IP...but it could be...here is to hoping :D

Agreed, in game advertisements could work with a sc-fi futuristic title. I picture something similar to Blade Runner when it comes to advertisements in a futuristic world.

Looking forward to seeing some official info on this when the time comes!

Wasn't there a rumour that it was Steampunk? A sci-fi fps based mmo sounds incredibly like Bungie's Destiny.

I don't think we will get the game this year, but I do think we will get a reveal of some sorts.
