Blizzard: 'Titan'

Blizzard China's general manager either resigned or was terminated after the leak.

Love it haha.

Didnt tell you anything anyway, seemed a bit of an overreaction. Unless theyre going to blow my socks off (WWII MMOFPS or some new tech) the secrecy seems a bit like hype building. And hey, it works! Its probably going to be wow in space.

I hope not.

Sub based MMOs are the best. F2P and single purchase ones are hugely compromised by the real money for game currency/items systems they employ.

I have never played a F2P more than a few weeks at most before deciding it was naff.

So blizzard let go a couple of developers so they could develop Torchlight to develop the market for Diablo 3. Very obvious.

Then they released more employees to develop Wildstar which is a collaboration between NCSoft and Carbine.

My bet is we wont hear anything until Wildstar hits the market and its success/failure will be watched very closely, then we might get some more information.

There was also this:

The website MMOSite.com analyzed the plausibility of the rumor that Blizzard’s next MMO Titan will be based on Halo. The author called it “An Analysis of a Rumor”. Assumptions are based on a speech which was made by a Blizzard official in a Interview:

Actually, it resulted from a speech made by Blizzard’s co-founder Frank Pearce in an interview with North American media. According to his speech, Blizzard’s new MMORPG, which is called Titan, will be set in the Halo universe. Halo is Microsoft’s Xbox 360-based game that has sold tens of millions of copies all over the world.

during their investigation they found three clues which lead to it. The first clue is, that Ensemble Studios members shift to Blizzard to work on Titan after the disbandment. The seconed refers to the former relationship between Ensemble Studios and Blizzard. And the last one is the rumor that titan will be a sci-fi MMORPG.

;)

F2P MMOs are compromised - End of. Do not even attempt to try argue otherwise.

You play them? Good for you.

By all accounts Blizz are giving serious consideration to a f2p model, when that happens you wont be playing it then I take it?

Regarding Titan, I think it's still in the whiteboard stage. Didn't a few of the guys that left WoW for Titan just come back onto WoW?

I don't even care any more, Blizzard...as far as I am concerned irrelevant.

Haha the missing word changes the whole meaning of that.

Im not dissing F2P, there are some MMOs out there that would not be there had it not been for that option. But i prefer the sub and the benefits and even playing field that brings.

I believe its most likely going to be a Sci-fi FPS or something similar they pretty much have every other genre of game out there. It would be a slightly risky move for them thought seeing as they haven't really produced any other FPS games before.

What is Titan? All we know about it right now for sure is that it's being developed by Blizzard, and we've been told on occasion that the game is not a new installment of one of Blizzard's existing franchises. But that may not be the case. According to rumors collected by the fans over at Titan Focus, Titan may indeed be a spinoff of an existing IP and might even be aimed at the console market.

The hints have been coming from a fan known in the community for being fairly reliable in his rumors, lending this some credibility, but it's still just a rumor at this point. If it's true, then we can expect the game to be tied to one of the existing Blizzard franchises, albeit not as a direct sequel. Considering how quiet the studio has been on the project for some time, we can only hope that the surfacing rumors are a sign we're getting closer to some hard information.
