I am looking to get a 5820K with a waterblock, I currently have a raystorm block on a 4670K, I am probably looking at something that can be illuminated and preferably an EK one

Having looked through the list there seems to be only a few labelled X99 like this one https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-844-EK&groupid=962&catid=1519&subcat=2286

I would like to know if anything else will work though for example this one https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-656-EK&groupid=962&catid=1519&subcat=2286

What is the advantage of the ones labelled X99 ?

The only difference between those two blocks (apart from the colour) is that the X99 version only has a mount for LGA-2011 (X99) whereas the normal version has mounts for pretty much all sockets. This is why the X99 version is cheaper.

Anything that supports LGA-2011 will be fine.

Your Raystorm block will do the job no problem i got my XSPC Rasa block on and had is since phenom 2 times !!!

I really like the EK ones though because I used a nickel CSQ one on my brothers pc, also I know someone that is looking to make their first loop so I might be able to sell the raystorm

I also need advice on fittings, I threw together a mock up using spare ones and the raystorm to get an idea, it doesnt look like it will work though, they hit the screws, dont line up properly with each other and also the screws dont passthrough the board holes or thread properly ( they sort of bite onto something but not really ).

Most of these are the monsoon 90 rotary with xspc triple seal petg fitting,
the other is a bitspower rotary 90 and theres also a male to female ( spacer ? ) not sure where I got that though.

Also I lost all of the outer o-rings for the petg fittings that are on there, any way to get more ?

I loved my nickel one too but not buying EK nickel plated products in while. It was flaking like a mofo and it was an 'EN' revision. Same happended to my 680gtx block.

I have the supremacy X99 Acetyl one. Looks great and fitted fine aswell. You can get a X99 only block but like said depends if your going to want to use it in the future if you upgrade. Me personally am going to keep the X99 for a good few years then use it for something else and just buy another block.

Ordered a bunch of the bitspower rotary 90 degrees to replace the monsoons ( out of stock )

Also ordered the x99 evo block ( out of stock )

also more triple seal thingys ( out of stock )

and some cheap spacers just in case ( also out of stock )

Cost a lot and it might be a long wait but hopefully it will resolve the problem,
the main thing I noticed was that the mounting brackets on the EVO are lower
than the raystorm so I think the screws are less likely to obstruct the fittings, we will see though.

I could have waited for each item to come in stock which I have done before but then I would have to pay like £10 delivery each time just to get a few little metal things.

Yeah I will also likely be keeping X99 for a while, I just cant see Zen 8 core being much of a threat to a 5820K and Skylake has shown me that cpus are just not progressing much at the moment.
