Blocking MSN?

Huh !!!
Just don't switch it on or allow it to start up at start up, even better delete the prog.

If you want to block users on your network from having access to MSN Messenger it will be tricky with only a firewall or router.
Best way is a Layer 7 proxy that can filter based on the application type.
MSN Messenger will fall back to port 80 if all else fails and the only way to stop that specific kind of traffic is to use a proxy server.

You could try to add blocks for the following;

1863, 6891 & 6900 TCP

[messenger.msn.com]
IP Address: 64.4.15.61
IP Address: 65.54.213.62

Also block the IP range 64.4.13.0 - 64.4.13.255

Is that MSN messenge? I thought it was just Windows Messenger?:confused:

Last time I did this was on a Win 2003 domain, the disable messenger GPO actually disabled both MSN and Windows messengers. Never tried this on a XP machine but I assume it will have the same effect.
