Blocking scam calls

Not so much landline, but on my mobile I get between 0-3 everyday.

More recently they have been mobile numbers very similar to mine but the last couple of digits different.

I don't answer any of them.

It's a shame because your never know if the odd call might be something legit, but I now literally never answer my phone to a number I don't recognise.

I really wish "someone" could do more about this, they are clearly ignoring GDPR etc....

Yeah had one of the BT ones for my Nan, it did help but it wasn't perfect in our case because we needed to keep 'withheld' numbers open due to the stupidity of our doctors surgery not using a voip service which shows the telephone number when ringing out....

I will say so far the most efficient set up I've found for blocking spam calls is having a voip telephone number, my business line uses sipgate and in all honesty apart from some business to business cold calls (pretty sure that's due to 118 registries...), I haven't had a single amazon, openreach, bt, bank etc call (touch wood). Basically it's a number that's never been in a phone book etc so it's not on the list (for now at least), so it doesn't get called.

Not sure how viable that option is if they've not had internet etc, but it might be worth considering.

My parents have the BT phone that blocks numbers, has caller ID.

Tbh they ignore all withheld numbers, if its important they'll leave a VM.

Personally I have had a landlines for a few years now, no point with mobile phones
