Blog or what?

Hello all,

I want to make sort of blog type thing.... (Precise eh?!

)

Basically i want a site / page where i can write reviews about sport, computer games and music, and about where i am in life. Decisions i have to make, etc.

Sort of an online diary, scrap book, rolled into one.

Is this classed as a blog site or what? If so are there any that are template laid out for you? I am quite capable of making my own, but really can't be bothered with all the PHP, arranging domain name and hosting, etc.

Any help much appreciated

Use Typepad. Think it sounds perfect for you.

Thanks dude, also, one other thing, i would prefer it to be free if possible?

Don't know if this is likely, without umpteen ads, etc. I am just about to start learning the guitar too so my progress for that will be on there too....

millions of people do it, are you writing for yourself or an audience? because usually most blogs are pretty pointless to anyone else but you, and can be really tedious.

I guess it's for me, something to keep a log of, look back on. Something i can add pictures too of the albums i am writting about.

I also want to put up some of the songs i write. I guess i might show it to others too.

Something to develop and build on.

Basically i am in a bit of a mess in my noggin and i am trying to save myself from total madness (no, not Spartaaa!) and i think this might be a good way to get some of my thoughts out there in a nice presentable way.

God i do sound mad....

Try wordpress. I've recently set one up and I've been impressed by the number of plugins available for it. You can pretty much customize it to display whatever you want it to.

I have just signed up with Wordpress, bu im a bit lost.

I have read the FAQ but am unsure how to create different pages / caegories.

I want a different page for XBox stuff, music, life, sport, etc.... Has anyone got an example of there i could maybe look over?

rather than creating pages, create different categories - the pages are for static information and a blog category is for different types of article. you should be able to do this when you create a new blog post

Wordpress is excellent imo, use it for my own site. I'd say that the best thing to do is start a site for yourself, and if other people like it then that's a bonus, but never set out with the intention of having lots of readers
