Blops DLC pricing!

Its not as simple as that because for everything to work smoothly in a social aspect everyone really has to have all the maps & the dev & publishers know that..

I don't play BLOPs much at all but a friend was hounding me to join in one day & i kept getting disconnected & about half an hour later of trying he asked me if i had the map packs. The game does not even tell you that your trying to join a friend on a server with maps that you don't have.

So that popping on for a quick casual bash with friends is out of the window unless we all have them & i would not be playing it long enough to get my moneys worth.

Most servers do advertise which DLC they have, so it's not that bad. There are more servers running no DLC than there are running DLC. Sometimes it's hard to get a game on the latest maps.
Although if you join a friend then the server choice isn't really yours.

Our group get the DLC mainly for the zombie maps, the number of hours playing 4 player coop on them make the price reasonable. Paying for the new mulit-player maps is not so economical but most of us have them and will spend a reasonable amount of time on them. Interestingly the next map pack is zombie only, the four old maps from WAW plus a new one called Moon. Now that is money for old rope :D

Call of duty DLC in general has really just taken an xbox live approach, they charge what they want and they know they'll get it for consoles at least as COD seems to be the holy grail of all things gaming for them.

Seems to be no such thing as an addon pack anymore, we used to get a decent amount of sp content and some mp maps for £20. Now its a handfull of mp maps for £11.50, and this all seems to have happened around the time activision figured out cod fans on consoles seemingly are mindless sheep that would buy a version of the game entitled "**** you" edition, as long as it had the Call of Duty tag it'll still sell.

And as pc seems to be the minority in all of this, its obvious Activision couldn't care less if we buy the dlc or not seeing as its gobbled up by the console crowd.

Its pathetic to see a game stuck in 2003 still somehow doing so well in sales, if anything it just goes to show how undemanding the bulk of console owners are and any derp fest with "Call of Duty" slapped onto it is bound to sell.

Which was none of the points i was making.

If you join through invite or the friends list then you don't see the browser, server or the map beforehand & in those cases it should warn you which it does not, all you see is connecting then you just get disconnect & no reason why.

my point was you can easily pop on for a quick bash, and you don't need all the maps if you and your friends choose a server with no DLC or just the DLC that you do have. :)

Which is obvious & was not the point.
The fact is we lost half an hour because of the lack of info from the invite & joining through friends thus we didn't get to play.

And for the second point friends want to play with friends so it common for pressure to be put on friends who don't have the Maps to get them, every time he plays those maps he has to play with random's.

 You can't blame a game because it took you 30 mins to deduce your friend was on a map you didn't own. unless of course you weren't on voice chat.

In which case I take it back and you can blame the game.

Yes i can blame the game because that is the first time that any game that i have ever played has not told you that you don't have the required maps when connecting.

All you get is disconnect & the only thing anyone would think is that they are having connection issues which can be very common.

I had no way of knowing what map he was on, I didn't even know he had bought the map packs either beforehand.

So i checked my firewall settings, i rebooted the modem, i verified integrity checked the game cache.

And didn't deduce because i have nothing to go on to make an assumption that he's on maps that i don't have, it was he who told me after all that time & i cant be blamed for others not thinking to mention things because he assumed that i had them but the game could have put that straight with oi you aint got the maps from the get go like all others that i have played do.

The fact that he was silly enough to buy them in the first place indicates that perhaps he shouldn't be your friend any more ;)

LOL.

Its better that he now buys then pirates everything.

The thing is that's the game that he plays all the time so its understandable he bought them.

Try this for deduction Sgt_Pepper.

A friend wants to connect the PC to the HDTV, he sets it to 1080p there is a black boarder all around the edge, whats the issue ?

What the hell do you expect? It's Activision ffs - you know, probably the greediest games developer going? Just look at what they've done to Blizzard for evidence of this.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

And that has what to do with DLC.

Oh my..... :o

/end

Its to do with your comment in blaming me under the circumstances & im proving a point that without critical info you cant blame someone for not deducing something quickly.

I don't expect you to put your money where your mouth is.

I play blackops a lot but so far have resisted the urge to buy any of the map packs, while it would be nice to have a little more varity I can live the maps at the moment and as others have pointed out I can get a lot of games for the 35 quid i would have spent on map packs.

While i used to love playing CS competively with age I now seem to prefer Lone Wolf arcade style play which Blops caters for perfectly. I so want to prefer Battlefield but I just cant. I will propobably buy both MW3 and BF3. I predict BF3 will technically be a vastly superior game to MW3 with great visuals some destruction and incredible sound but I just won't really like the game play so will spend the next year spending more time on MW3 using a 10 year old engine which will be buggy as hell as 3 studios have all had a chance to screw it up, i will either let myself be ripped off by the elite service or feel that I am missing something because I refuse to pay but I will probably really enjoy the gameplay as it seems to suit my ageing brain.

I just wish DICE had developed MW3 instead of Craven, Infinitly Bored and Sledgewhoever.
