Blu-ray and HD-DVD another battlefront

I'm gonna go for door #3. A new format will come out after BluRay and HD-DVD, it will offer the benefits of both (exceeding them in certain parts) and removing as many of the failings as possible. BluRay and HD-DVD will have built up the HD hype, and the new format comes in at the right time to capitalise on an all time high of HD adoption (TV wise not players).

Well... its no less based in reality than saying either format will win at this early stage.

HD-DVD for me tbh

1) DVD one side - HD-DVD the other. Backwards compatible. :D
2) Cheaper
3) MS support so will require 3rd party driver for Windows as opposed to HD-DVD which will be supported natively *in Vista iirc...*
4) Sony's track record of new formats that have done really really well. ;)
5) More studio's behind HD-DVD - including ones that signed up to Blue Ray initially are now signing up to HD-DVD

Capacity doesn't really bother me - HD-DVD has shown to be large enough t hold a full HD-DVD film - I'd prefer 2 disks over a double sided one anyway *always have*
