In a naturalistic survey of 140 respondents using high quality musical samples sourced from high-resolution 24/96 digital audio collected over 2 months, there was no evidence that 24-bit audio could be appreciably differentiated from the same music dithered down to 16-bits using a basic algorithm (Adobe Audition 3, flat triangular dither, 0.5 bits).
Ok an opinion, waste of time, no market for it. “Audiophiles” won’t go down the BD player route for Hi End audio, no need we can already download 24/192 files or DSD files… then use current “Audiophile” grade streamers and DAC’s… Why use a mechanical spinning medium for digital when data transfer is already in place.
Mass market buys BD players from Asda …. Plus won’t have a system to make use of greater amounts of data.
It’s 10 years too late……. DTS Master Audio of concerts and live performances with pictures is perfectly adequate........ Then most will get played through a sound bar !!!
