I am about to buy a Samsung LE40B650 LCD - Tv.

I will be using Logitech z5500's for sound.

I am looking to buy a blu-ray player and i am totally confused about what unit to buy.

From what i understand the newest codecs for blu-ray are DD+, Dolby true HD and DTS-HD, and that it is advisable to buy a unit that decodes them internally.

Are there any players out which can do this? and if so will the 5500's be up to the task?

essentially im trying to buy a player that is as future proof as possible and would like some advice:)

Thank you guys for your patience and advice

John

I might have found an affordable solution to my problem

Onkyo HTX-22HD Black 5.1 decodes the above.

would anyone recommend these speakers / decoder unit.

Many Thanks,

John

Panasonic DMP-BD60(or 80 for 7.1 support) supports all those codecs and is also one of the best performing players out there. I would assume that all the top brands support those codecs anyway.

to use that sound setup you would need to use the analogue 6channel inputs and decode on the player itself. Something like the sony BDS550 or the panasonic BD55 would do the job nicely.
