Do we have any fellow Blu Ray Steelbook Collectors on these forums?

I've just recently started recollecting and the bug has massively hit me.. Spending money like its going out of fashion!

So.. What do u people have?

I got District 9, Band of Brothers and pre-ordered Jaws. I've seen there are loads out now that came out in bulk like Shaun of the Dead, Hulk and that but I'm only buying BR's I love and not for the sake of it like I did with DVDs.
And I ordered the Jaws digibook because it's limited edition and might be worth a few quid one day like my DVD collectors edition. #bigjawsfan

For me the draw is the artwork of the steels and to a degree the rarity of some of them.

For example I own a copy of the German release of Zombieland, which is considered by many to be in the top 5 -10 of rare steels, on which the artwork is stunning.

I'm taking delivery of about 12 steels this week and have about another 6 on preorder.

I'll get some pics up when I can :)

I think that BR has come down in cost massively.. the deals you can get like 5 for £30 are amazing.. I remember paying £25 for one title a few years back..

I started collecting after someone bought me the Expendables steelbook for xmas, since then the bug has hit big time.

I have to agree the draw is the artwork and the rarity of some of the really collectable ones.

The Japanese Bladerunner and the German Sincity are absolutely stunning.

At last count there were about 25 but they are releasing so many now that it's hard to keep up.

Only got one: Predator.

Also have a DVD of Total Recall, not as swanky as the current batch of BluRay ones though - love how they miss off most logos and other words and things.

So far the Steelbooks purchased this week are:

Wall-E (German, Golden front)
Kick ass (Black front with yellow text)
Zombieland (German, enough said!)
Transformers (Play Exclusive)
Prometheus (Play Exclusive)
The American (German)
District 9 (HMV Exclusive)
Leon (Dutch)
Hunger Games (HMV Exclusive, fire front)
The Raid (Play Exclusive)
Pulp Fiction (Play Exclusive, I think?)
Captain America 3D (German release)
Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol (Play exclusive)
American Gangster (German release)
Iron Man 2 (Play exclusive)
300 (Warner 100th Edition)
Avengers Assemble 3D (German Exclusive)
8 Mile (Netherlands Exclusive)
War Of The Worlds (Play Exclusive)
X-Men: First Class (French Exclusive)

Next week is Matrix, Last Samurai (Both Warner 100th Editions) and whatever else I get my eye on!

I'll get some pics up when I can and of course when some of them arrive!

I believe those Zombieland pics were mine from when i was selling.. but they were taken on a 3GS camera.. hence the terrible quality!

I haven't actually bought many steelbooks across the years as only tend to buy them if they are the same price given they don't improve the film. But recently looking at my collection of 300+ Blu-Rays I decided to sell some off as there are films I would never watch again as my girlfriend doesn't have the same tastes as me, so shameless plug the below 4 are in the memebers market if interested.

2012
Resident Evil Afterlife
Sweeney Todd
Wanted

I also have a few others at home that I am keeping and a few other cool cases like Reservoir Dogs in the style of a petrol can and the Terminator Salvation T-600 edition.

Some of the steelbooks I've got:
Scott Pilgrim vs The World (UK)
Star Trek (Play.com exclusive)
Kill Bill volumes 1 & 2 (German black suit edition, also have normal yellow suit)
Kick Ass (UK)
Drive (hmv.com exclusive)
Machete (UK)
Akira (UK)
Repo Man (UK)
Metropolis (UK)

Interesting to note that some steelbooks are worth a lot ..... when I sold my extra copy of Scott Pilgrim vs The World, it sold for twice the price I bought it effectively making my original purchase of 2 steelbooks cost nothing.

Akira

Pretty sure that's my only tin. Only bought it because it was cheaper than the normal one at the time. I prefer normal cases!

Just a bit of a heads up, play are selling quite a few steelbooks for under £10 in their clearance.

Shooter
Kick Ass
A-Team
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Saving Private Ryan
Hot Fuzz
Flash Gordon
Zombieland
Hellboy
Mission Impossible 1, 2 and 3
Scott Pilgrim
Pitch Black
Zulu
The Incredible Hulk
Sean of the Dead
Collateral

Actually theres a good few more which i cant be bothered listing :p

I really only bother with Steelbooks if they offer some extra content wise. However what I prefer to collect instead (film wise) are laserdiscs. I think the artwork on some of them are amazing.
