was wandering if someone can help me out, I'm not sure what it is but it has only just appeared 2 days ago. looks like a blue light along the bottom of my screen. It only visible when the screen is dark ie at startup or when watching something with dark lighting, under general use like internet browsing it is fine.

sorry for the crap pictures

If I am not mistaking, that's called screen bleeding and a lot of gaming laptops tend to have that issue as the time passes. You can try to see if your warranty covers it if you still have it, but other than that I'm not sure you can do much about it, without messing your screen more.

Thank you I’ll have a look into it, my laptop is only a year old past April, didn’t think I would have had any issues so soon, I’ll maybe get in touch with MSI see what they offer in ways of help.

You can get it on nearly new screens. It shouldn't affect the actual preformance other than being a bit of an eye saw. I've heard some people say running a solid black colour can help, but personally find it hard to believe.

I’ve contacted MSI customer services and luckily I have 10 days left on my warranty so there going to pick it up next week and take it away for a look and replace if needed. Weird that it’s only noticeable some of the time

It isn't weird at all that it's only noticeable under certain conditions. That is textbook backlight bleeding, and in everything but the most extreme of cases is only noticeable when a dark image is displayed. Be prepared for the possibility that MSI not being able to fix the issue; a lot of the time it isn't a fault, it's just down to the quality of the panel used in that model.

I thought If it was there it’s there. I see it at startup and also when watching videos etc but I don’t see it when I’m gaming. I did look on the MSI website under the warranty section and display is 12 months so I have my fingers crossed they come good of it. For the price of it I expected the screen to last more than a year at least

It may be that the screen bezel has begun pinching the panel over time, manipulating the screen back and forth gently normally shows increases/decreases in the intensity of the bleed if this is the case. Are you sure it hasn't been there the entire time? It's very common to see this on delivery. As for it being either there/not there, it is there, however you won't be able to notice it unless you have a very low dark image being displayed.

I can have a look tomorrow and see if it might be the case, I do know that if you press the middle of it, it’s shows up more and gets larger than back to what it is when I let go, I’m usually ok going into laptops and changing things round and fixing stuff but I don’t want to muck around with the display, well not until I get an answer from MSI anyways! could have been there for a while as I don’t really watch films on it much, only recently I’ve had more time on my hands at work and like I said never shows up gaming.

All packed up and awaiting pick up from MSI I got in touch and showed them pictures etc and they agreed to pick it up and have a look.
Hopefully returns fixed.

Yea thats MSI, bad quality screen on a high end laptop, this shouldn't be common.

I would ask for a refund or a replacement not a stupid RMA repair as this just shouldn't happen with good build quality.

They need a better QC team, i've had an MSI (with the mxm upgrade issues etc) they sent me the upgrade it was dead, sent me another one to which the PSU died and they had to replace it....

I’ll see what they come back with if they fix it if not,
Is it possible to ask for a refund/replacement after a year? A year and one day to be exact, how would I go about it if I had to?
I’ll find out in the next couple of days the outcome should have it back early next week hopefully. Having gaming withdrawals :D

If its within warranty you should be able to (or if you paid via credit card you can chargeback if you are not happy with your purchase i think up to 6 years from date of purchase) but again this depends on your country and where you bought the laptop etc.

either way, if you are unhappy make it known if you accept the BS RMA processes then fair play.

IMO though build quality MSI poor, refund purchase another laptop or risk having the same issue after they "repair" it....

I think there is some consumer laws around "How long you can reasonable expect a product to last" etc so for example washing machine 6-10 years, your new car 10+ years laptop you spend 2k on? I would expect reasonably to get 3 years out of it without issues (other than falling behind on the performance requirements of new games :p)

how do you go about it?

ask nicely at first :P

check if you paid via CC - advise them you will chargeback

read up on consumer laws

if still unhappy no final resolution - small claims courts (dont be affraid of this if you are not pleased with the product its really not hard).

then there is always the BS way..... twitter/facebook social media - communicate with them here, don't threaten but just be aware its public facing and they have to deal with your issue in a better way otherwise they look crap and tarnish their brand. If you communicate via email these days you get less done for you as its private and its only affecting one person.

How much warranty to laptops usually come with. Is it 12 months for electrical equipment? My year was up on the 10th of april but I have contacted msi a few days before about it so It has been logged before the 12 month mark.
I got a txt from them they have received my laptop and are investigating but like you said if it’s happened once nothing stopping it happen again.
I was £1600 for it so I expected it to last more than a year before something went wrong.
I can’t do the last option as I am not connected to any social media at all.
Going to have a read up on the laws see where I stand.
